willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Nov 6, 2004 10.31.04 12oz bottle. Medium amber with big foamy head. Lots of citric hoppiness in aromas don’t remind me at all of EPA. Flavor is grapefruity hop dominated with a grainy malt background. mstockton (186), Rochester, Michigan, USA Nov 1, 2004 Pretty nice beer. A little hoppy for me, but tasty. It’s worth a try. Drink at the old City Tavern in Philly...kind of adds to the mystique. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Sep 26, 2004 Gold. Very resiny, lots of pine in the hops. A bit too much on the hop side, malts don’t really balance it out properly. Overly fizzy, some carbonation problem. scraff (1920), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 28, 2004 This is their new American Pale Ale grain bill, so don’t let old ratings deter you from at least trying it once. Clear golden, fizzy white head. Nose has nice scents of light pine, grapefruit, lemon zest, with a slight caramel note. Hops dominate here with malt having a lesser roll in trying to balance. Light bodied, fizzy carbonation, hoppy dry finish. Tasty and very drinkable. Rockinout (945), Kent, Ohio, USA Aug 20, 2004 Poured with a large overflowing head, has a mild lemon-citrus flavor, good on a hot day but really is just average. Overly carbonated with a fizzy mouthfeel. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA Aug 16, 2004 Peach/grapefruit duel in aroma. Unfortunately, grapefruit wins. Some nice cereal flavors in the middle--malt, wheat, oats, grainy middle and finish. Medium body. Not the greatest melding of flavors but passable. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Jul 18, 2004 Royal Stumble. A bit low in alcohol but still very tasty. One of the few highlights of this wacky event. More hop bite than usual EPA’s. Crisp. hopdog (5525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 18, 2004 Poured a hazy golden yellow with a huge, huge white frothy head. Lots of particles. Citris hoppy and fruity armoa. Tastes of apples and lemons mixed with malts. Different tasting - a little weak but overall not too bad.
