This beer poured into the glass a orange-amber color that had some cloud to it. The head was a white in color that was not present for very long. No lace seemed to be present. The aroma was fruity and hops with a tad of malt were present. The taste was sweet with fruit/citrus and hops. A malt seemed to be present but not overpowering plus it added to the sweetness. A well balanced beer with flavors and smells. Would like to get a few to take home next time.

Ditto on HighGravity. Hazy, light body, no mouth feel. Strange metalic drying aftertaste, but very little character or interest.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma of apricot. Cloudy body with generous head. Very interesting flavor: complex oak, apricot, sherry and butterscoth notes lurk around the edges, but sadly surround a rather watery center. Almost very good.

Had this on tap at the Philly airport, served from a plastic cup. Not the ideal circumstance, but I had other stuff there that held up, so I think its fair to rate this. Bad. Just bitterness. Nothing but bitterness. Not really hoppy, exactly; no fruit, no herbal character. Just plain astringent, gagging bitterness. No body to speak of; avoid.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2004 I've been consuming this Pale Ale on draft at the Phillies and Camden Riversharks ballparks this summer. I believe Yards has tweaked the recipe bulking up the hop aroma and flavor. Bitterness has increased moving it away from an English Pale Ale and more towards an APA. Original rating 2.8 (09.16.02) cask conditioned version.
