COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beautifully complex, boldly hopped, amber-colored IPA uses rye malt to give the beer a subtle spiciness. It’s bittered with Bravo and Nugget hops before heading to the hop back packed with whole flower Chinook. Finally, we bomb it with Centennial, Citra, Simcoe, and Columbus, creating a pungent ale with intense notes of citrus and pine.

Transfer from BA review on 1-23-14- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served an orange amber color with one finger of white head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a moderate level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is lighter overall but has hints of rye bread mixed with some aromas of toffee and caramel. Along with these aromas are some lighter hoppier smells of grapefruit and pine as well. Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter rye bread taste as a smooth rye is mixed with some caramel sweetness. As the flavor advances the caramel fades and is replaced by some sweeter orange citrus flavors. The hops start out very light in the taste, but gains intensity as it moves along. Initially one is met with a grapefruit hop flavor midway through the taste with a pine shortly following. Both grow stronger to the end, with the grapefruit edging out the pine in terms of intensity. The rye kicks it up a bit right at the end taking away from the smoothness of the beer, but mixing with the rest to leave a nicely hopped rye flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is average. For the rye flavors of the brew and the nice blend of grapefruit and pine hop, the feel is quite nice, accentuating both these flavors rather well. Overall – A rather tasty rye with a good blend of hop, rye, and sweet.

Bottle. Earthy orange-tinted color with a particularly rolling head of firm foam. The aroma is quite restrained but hints at a fruity hop. The beer indeed drinks with a sturdy, citrus-based hoppiness, but is ultimately taken with a fairly earthen undertow, and a distinct heaviness often experienced in rye beers. Yummy. Very delicious beer. Aroma was the only complaint about this beer. It didn’t have much. Even putting the whole nose in the glass only brought up some distant pine and citrus. That had me worried. Pour was a nice medium gold with an almost amber highlight. Taste was very good. Strong hoppiness in the front with a good amount of rye spiciness. Nice bitter finish. Nice strong carbonation. Fantastic beer

Bottle. Pours a clear copper body with a large frothy off-white head that slowly faded, leaving some sparce lacing. The nose is pretty great, lots of spicy rye with some resiny hops and a little sweet caramel malt. The flavor is pretty spicy as well, but there’s some sweet crystal malt below the rye that’s a bit off-putting for me. It makes for a lingering sweetness on the finish that kinda drowns out the rye and hops. Light to medium bodied with a bit of clinginess and soft fizzy carbonation. This one is a bit of a miss for me.

citrus hop character with a dash of pine. amber colored brew with yeah i like the leaves comment below rather than spice. this creates a busy finish as rye is discernable. good for a macro and has been done a ton before.

Poured clear amber with a 2-finger white head. Aroma of piney hops with a touch of a grassy note. Medium body, lightly oily with a mildly dry finish. Flavor of piney hops with a peppery, grassy note underneath that becomes more pronounced in the finish.

Maybe too much hoppiness, but it is slightly tamed by the rye’s spicy nature. A fun beer, but getting close to too much bitterness. Maybe a bit more malting would have helped, but still a decent beer.

Pours a clear amber orange with a small white head. Smells of citrus, spices. Taste is bitter and sweet, moderately spiced - rye, citrus spices. Fairly crisp.
