COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saisons were originally brewed to keep farmhands happy and hydrated during the warm summer months. True to the style, Yards’ Saison is a semi-unfiltered Belgian style ale brewed with distinctive Belgian yeast. It’s delicate and fruity with a subtle spiciness. Styrian Goldings in the kettle lend a touch of hop to the palate, balancing out this highly drinkable version of the classic style. Available April through July or until supplies last.

12oz bottle split in 3. Hazy orange-tan. Funky orange, some odd tropical undertones. Peppery. Not a perfect Saison, some sugary sweet malt tones, not so zest of effervescent. Pineapple-lemon-herb flavors. OK.

I get that lemon cough drop thing on the aroma..not in a bad way..citrusy and slight spice...pure yellow hazy with pure white head that dissipates, some lacing...good taste lemony, citrusy,a bit of yeast, maybe slightly less spicy than some but that means more refreshing too..palate is thin bodied with light carbonation..overall a great summer beer and although similar to most saison or farmhouse ales has its own character

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2015 Draft at Moriartys. May 2013. Pint. Hazy hay pour with soft white foam. Wet lace. Feels a bit like a medium dark wheat beer with some earthy notes. Not a traditional Saison but has some interesting flavors. Oranges spiked with cloves. Bread dough. Truffles. Apricots. Sage. Mushrooms. Rosemary. Dry up front. Sweet in the middle. Balanced in the finish. Unusual. UPDATE: Having again at Moriartys in May 2015. Not sure if this is because I just had a couple high-hopped IPAs immediately prior but the Saison tastes undrinkably sweet to me.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 5/22/13, Palindromic Rating #2992

Aroma: The nose has Belgiany-type yeast, pepper/spice, some citrus rind, and light funk
Appearance: Pours a hazed bright orange color with a small white head and light/drippy lace
Flavor: The flavor is medium sweet and plenty spicy, with a light funk, and mild bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a lively carbonation, and a dry, spicy finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid beer. It has a pretty nice nose/flavor, a solid feel, and a nice drinkability. It isn’t an exceptional beer, but it is plenty tasty.
