From a bottle into a snifter. Pours a very, very nice light blond orange. A few fingers of head which dissipates into a whisp of bubbles on the liquid. Great crisp aroma of pepper and lemon. Lots of carbonation in the mouthfeel, it’s better once it calms down a little. Super tastes of pepper, lime, yeast, metal and funk. Overall, it’s a darn solid saison and a good drinker during summer. Just enough alcohol so you can drink one or two. I’ll buy again, especially for the price.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cloudy yellow orange pour with a frothy white head. Aroma is funky spicy and a bit fruity. Flavor is spicy and fruity. A not sweet. Would have liked it a not drier, but not bad.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
355mL. The pour is a clear golden with some decent carbonation generating a medium, pillowy, white head. Nice retention but no lace. Nose is heavy esters with banana and clove similar to something like Duvel or an Abbey Tripel. Taste is metallic, sweet, very grainy and cereal heavy. As it warms you can get some of the numbing clovey spice and heavy spicy yeast. A little heavy and husky on the palate for saison but pretty competent and nice. Much better than I expected.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
20110514 12oz bottle from Ronnie’s in Forest Hill. Cloudy golden with big, fluffy, clingy, off-white head that lasts. Aroma is immediately bready, sourdough rye, and herbal, tarragon and thyme, with mild lemon and coriander. Full bodied and almost creamy, which is nice but not very saisonish; I would enjoy a bit more carbonation and a somewhat lighter heft. Comes across as quite wheaty and almost hefe-like, but does crisp up a bit when served colder. Gleefully lacking in sweetness however, this beer is firmly focused on a spicy Belgian yeast and baguette-like maltiness. Very mild hoppiness could be bolder to dry up the finish, but as it is there’s a pleasant yeasty spice to clean it up. Not a terribly focused beer, but pleasant enough to not regret having five more to work though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy gold, thin ring of foam. Bready, toasty aroma, with some light spicy notes in the background. Odd flavor - dry white wine, some odd herbal note I can’t quite place, and I gonna say oregano? Maybe? Sessionable and tasty.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle pours a lightly hazy deep gold with a lacing, creamy white head. Nose is very floral, very sweet, melon, rose petal, yeasty esters, banana, clove. Flavor is sweet, malty, a little grass, something a touch medicinal, honey, banana, spice. Full bodied but dry. Too much yeast, needed to be toned down a bit.

On cask at Max’s on Broadway. Interesting pepper aroma. Pours golden with a serious white that doesn’t dissipate even after 30 minutes. Nice spices on the tongue. Very refreshing and crisp.

Nice, cloudy, thick, citrusy saison. Hoppy, foamy, delicious. This brewery keeps getting it right.
