Saisons were originally brewed to keep farmhands happy and hydrated during the warm summer months. True to the style, Yardsí Saison is a semi-unfiltered Belgian style ale brewed with distinctive Belgian yeast. Itís delicate and fruity with a subtle spiciness. Styrian Goldings in the kettle lend a touch of hop to the palate, balancing out this highly drinkable version of the classic style. Available April through July or until supplies last.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours a hazy yellow & sparse white head. Has the characteristic malty / bread dough flavor with a Belgian. Pretty nicely done. Good mouth feel, and not watery.

Light hazy golden color, white head. Herbal, yeasty, light phenolic taste. Phenolic aftertaste. Medium to fizzy mouthfeel, medium low bitterness. Also cream in the aftertaste. Light phenolic, some yeast scent.

Pours a slightly cloudy orange-yellow with a white head. Aroma of lemon and grass. Taste same with hints of banana and some of the yeast coming through. Nice crisp finish. Very tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Brunzies (4/17/15). Lemon peel and coriander. Mild yeast and some esters with light honey. Medium amber-gold clear with thin white head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Taste is mix of Belgian ale and a Wit. Jasmine, yeasty esters, and moderate bitterness toward the finish. Nice saison but a little sweet.

The Yards Saison is pretty to look at and smells just as nice, but itís lacking something in taste. It doesnít taste badóitís quite enjoyable and itís light in taste, but it also feels a little flat, like it canít quite distinguish itself from other saisons. Itís still a solid beer from a very good company, and Iíd drink it again. I just donít love it.

Pours mildly cloudy yellow gold with small white head that leaves minor lacing. The nose is bread, lemongrass, cereal, candied sugar. Palate adds mild citrus and banana, plus spices. I noticed coriander, clove and cumin. This is a mild farmhouse without much funk but some hop bitterness, reasonable level of alcohol with very slight buzz on the finish. Decent.

On tap at Jet Rock at PHL (after a connecting flight...I admit that all beers I have ever rated seem to get an extra +0.2 just for the fact that Jet Rock is the best non-tied-house craft beer bar in an airport). Also, the actual beer ratings by me are pretty lame. Hazy honeycomb yellow-orange with full white head and amazing patterns down the glass. Nice spice and moderate low noble hops. I enjoyed this starter to the flight!

Some floral hops, pepper, and lemon flavors dominate, a small hint of banana as well. Not bad, but nothing special.

Bottle. An almost clear one, pale golden in color and with a small, dense, white head. The aroma is quite banana-ish, with some spiced, peppery hints and a touch of citrus zest. Itís dry and medium bodied, with an appropriate carbonation level. Nice bitterness in the flavor, with some resins and pine cones. Peppery yeast, banana and a faint touch of lemon too. Lasting bitter, piney and peppery finish with some banana. Too much hefeweizen-ish on the nose especially, but itís a quenching and quite nice beer anyway. 150622
