8/02/2007: Yard’s Saison is cloudy and has a foamy off-white head that doesn’t last very long. The color is mostly golden with a brownish hue to it. Yeasty, mildly sweet fruit citrus, wheat, and hints of grass and spice can be found in the aroma. The flavor is made up of bready malt, hints of banana and spice, lemon, and has a slightly grassy and bitter finish. The body is medium-light and not overly carbonated. Overall this beer is tangy and refreshing.

12 oz bottle from Secret Santa. Pour is a slightly hazy very light white yellow with a lot of bubbles. Aroma is coriander, citrus and a tiny bit of earthiness. Taste is a lot of citrus - mostly on the lemon side of the scale. Pretty ordinary beer, though it was nicely situated somewhere between a Saison and a Wit. Santa was looking out for my favorite style, which is very cool.

Bottle. Spicy aroma, coriander and orange rind with some nutmeg and caramel. Yeasty and herbal. Golden pour with a big stream of bubbles shooting right up from the center. Head is clingy, white, airy, soft, rocky, and big. Crisp mf, big malt with lemon juice and orange rind, pepper and yeast with coriander entering before the whole thing dries out. Some notes of wheat. Medium-light body, smooth and crisp. Nice little guy!

Pours a hazy yellow-orange color with a nice white head. Aroma of citrus and maybe some malts. Too much sugar and orange for the palate. A fruited-up version of Blue Moon.

Bottle from Jasonmech77. Slightly hazy pale body with a small, white head. The aroma is bread, honey, grass and very light spice. The flavor is moderately sweet, pears, cotton candy, bread, honey,herbal and light pepper. Medium body is soft with very light carbonation.

12 oz. bottle via trade with jasonmech77 - Pours a hazy golden color with a thin white head that faded pretty quick. Very light lacing. Aroma is light yeast, esters, lemon zest, and herbal hops. Flavor is light citrus, light yeast, and esters. Light to medium body. Has a little more of a hop bite than the other Saisons I’ve tried. A decent beer. Thanks Jason.

Sampled on draught at Penn Microbrewers Fest, served to me by Woody Chandler. Has a nice dry Brett nose with a little bit of sweetness and lemon peel. Hazy golden amber body with a light, off-white head to it. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Starts rather dry and continues to have a dry bitterness throughout. Light bitter chalky hit with bitter orange rind. Good yeasty hit but also a bit watery. After is bitter and a wee bit harsh. Not quite as balanced as it should be. I’m just not a fan of Yards.

Appearance is nice, nose is nice, but the flavor lacks the authentic belgian saison style. No depth and minimal carbonation make this a forgetable brew
