2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Location/Date:Bottle on November 15th, 2012.
Appearance: Pours a clear brown.
Aroma: Aroma of toast malt, a lot of spruce.
Taste: Kind of leathery, lots of spruce, some sweet molasses.
Palate:Medium light body, no carbonation, light aftertaste(of spruce of course)
Summary: This is a solid made beer that is really different than most others, and it delivers on what it offers...but spruce isn’t something I really like in my beer. Maybe it’s just me.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Bertha's in Fells Point, Baltimore, MD.
Clear amber with an off-white head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of caramel, honey and spruce.
Taste of honey, pine, toffee, herbs, a gingery spiciness, spruce (which only comes through when the beer warms up) and orange.
Medium body and medium carbonation with a slightly tingling mouthfeel--perhaps from the ginger.
Normally I am not a fan of honey-flavored beers, but this one balances it nicely with the spruce, malt and spiciness.

Lots of honey, a somewhat subdued spruce note, and some grainy tastes too. Not a bad beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a somewhat transparent golden yellow with a one finger white foamy head that quickly died and barely left any lacing.
The smell had some spruce and light honey.
The taste was sweet and alower some light spruce to come through.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable quality about it.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good beer I’d have again.
