3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From eelbasher in locals 5.5, thanks Andrew! Pours golden amber with a tan head that falls quick. Aroma is like an oatmeal cookie with a little bit of citrus. Sweet malt is dominant, flavors of caramel, molasses, and just enough pine hop to counter the sweetness between sips. Carbonation is a touch more prickly than I would like.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle. Pours a deep, clear, copper color, with a small creamy tan head that settles slowly. Aroma of dark fruits with, black cherries, and a tiny whiff of alcohol. Flavor has a nice sweetness, dark fruits, black cherries, plums, very light hints of caramel. Finishes with a slightly spicy dryness and a hop bitterness. Medium body, very smooth, moderate carbonation.

8/15/13 bottle. given to me by Ken. What's happening to our neighborhood? Craft beer from everyone!!! Piney nose. Good malt flavor. Darker fruit taste. Surprised it was 8% alcohol.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light amber with average white head. Slight toasted malt in the nose. Malty sweet flavor, hint of citrus/ lemon. Full palate, this tastes of a vintage recipe. Tom and his team did right with these tavern beers. They are reminiscent of an earlier day. Yards has made a leap with this series. Go Mountain Hawks.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very slightly hazy copper golden color with a nicely formed off white head. A really nice looking beer. Light roast malt and some ground pepper and lemon zest spice on the nose. Filling, smooth, and almost creamy mouthfeel. Pretty aggressively hopped for the style. Mellow and moderately sweet on the front and center of the tongue. A quite bitter taste forms and lasts on the rear of the tongue. Pretty good balance. Adequate malt backbone for the hop profile.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
For an American strong ale, this beer hides the 8% ABV well with a spruce (or pine?) sort of flavor mixed with caramel/light malt notes. Interesting flavors that are difficult to describe. Nothing amazing, but not too bad either.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours hazy gold into a shaker. Creamy white head with good retention recedes leaving sticky sheets to coat surface. Sweet and sour pit fruit aromas. Soft with sweet caramel upfront turning to slightly hot fruity yeast before the lasting bitter earth finish.
