This powerful and complex golden ale pays homage to Founding Father and fellow brewer, Thomas Jefferson. Yards Brewmaster, Tom Kehoe, worked closely with Philadelphia’s historic City Tavern to recreate this recipe, employing honey, rye, and wheat, just like the beer Jefferson made at Monticello.

Copper color with a nice off-white head. Fruity aroma slaps you in the face immediately on the pour. Upon further inspection the aroma is of sweet apples dipped in caramel or possibly candied apples. background notes of spicy, somewhat floral hops. Enticing start. First sip yields malty sweetness with an impressive hop character that perfectly matches the malty overtones. Ginger and cinnamon possibly evident here along with fruity undertones. Perfectly balanced, hearty mouthfeel. Finish is nice and clean and the alcohol is completely hidden. Very impressive.

Amber body with big frothy head. Alcohol is bery well masked behind the sweet malty flavor. Somewhat bitter finish. This beer is really enjoyable.

Light malt aroma, nice fruity hops. Medium amber clear with thin head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Hoppy malt start, good acidity. Round bitter finish, bitter after. A nice session ale.

Pours a beautiful amber with a rocky off-white head. Aroma is malty. Taste is very bold and sweet, lots of caramel malt with dark fruit and floral characteristics. Plenty of hops give it some spicey/pine qualities on the back end. Bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is delightful- very full, round and creamy. Nice head retention and lacing. The alcohol content is very well hidden. Nice brew, recommended.

Light gold color. Large white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and touch funky (leather and must). A medium to full bodied American Strong Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Kind of bright yeasts. Except for the hops, the taste is very similar to a Belgian Strong Ale. Hops are spicy and somewhat bitter. Nicely balanced. Fairly smooth taste. Very nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Medium amber; mostly clear; nice cake of fluffy beige head. Tingly and effervescent carbonation. Caramel sweetness is on the light side. Nice bitter-orange sourness to give it a little edge. Snappy and somewhat biting bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Dortish. Enjoyable and comforting at 10 a.m. ... thanks, Aaron.

Sparkling clear amber body topped by medium beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, wood/leather/tobacco, caramel, grape. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, spicy/earthy hop, some grape (that becomes more prominent as the beer warms), ginger. Soft, medium body. Alcohol is amazingly well hidden. Quite a nice treat.

Bottle. Giant head. Thick lacing. A few particles. Orange-amber. Strong candy sugar aroma with fruit and alcohol notes. Very light on the tongue. Strong lemon-lime finish after a sweet start. Beligian-like but unique.

Very hazy amber with a thinning head. The aroma is slightly malty with a little bite of almost peppery hops. I really was a bit surprised that the beer was as strong as it is. It’s pretty drinkable. Toasted bread is the base of the malt in the flavor. This could pass for a decent ESB. Drinkable.
