COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This powerful and complex golden ale pays homage to Founding Father and fellow brewer, Thomas Jefferson. Yards Brewmaster, Tom Kehoe, worked closely with Philadelphia’s historic City Tavern to recreate this recipe, employing honey, rye, and wheat, just like the beer Jefferson made at Monticello.

On tap ( beer engine) at the Industry. Dark golden with creamy head, nice hoppy aroma and hops in taste , creamy and smooth. No evidence of the elevated ABV.

Bottle at Philly’s Tavern. Pours clear amber with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast and cookie malt, dates, earthy and woody hops. Flavor is malt dominant with medium hops and bitterness, dark fruits and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

A fairly hoppy beer with wonderful honey and rye sweetness ro balance the bitterness. Bit of a lingering finish but very light on the palate. Pairs well with rustic red meat based dishes (beef stew, cottage pie, etc).

Bottle split at Christine and Daves thanks to DLJ, 27/11/13. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white covering that retains well. Nose is bready malt, toffee, biscuit, bitter fruit tang, woody, scorched brown sugar. Taste comprises toffee, faint hop backbone, bitter orange, touch of booze. Medium bodied with a little oomph, dry, fine carbonation with a lick’o’booze in a sweetish finish. Ok drinkable affair but lacks depth for the ABV and not one I’d choose to revisit.

Pours a reddish orange copper color with a light white head and good lacing. Aroma yields a bit of a yeasty note mixed with syrup. Taste is orange, vanilla slightly tart finish with a caramel beginning. Mouthfeel is average. After a while I noticed a distinct cherry flavor rounding out the taste.

Copper pour with small white head and medium lacing. Aroma was very malty and bready with hint of spice I could not think of. Flavor was very malty with some cinnamon and maybe cloves, and a slight alcohol burn in the finish.

Very good copper pour w/ a big white head that slowly fades & leaves good lacing. The aroma is of sweet malt which is similar to the taste. Crisp yet very smooth at 8%. This is a very solid beer and exceeded my expectations.
