This powerful and complex golden ale pays homage to Founding Father and fellow brewer, Thomas Jefferson. Yards Brewmaster, Tom Kehoe, worked closely with Philadelphia’s historic City Tavern to recreate this recipe, employing honey, rye, and wheat, just like the beer Jefferson made at Monticello.

on draft west of philly. Its another long trail/magic hat type beer. Slightly worse than a sam adams. Plain, grainy, just enough bitterness for balance.

From a 12 oz bottle shared with Kermis at Rustico in Alexandria VA. Pours a clear copper with a thick off white head. Slight malty nose. Intense malt backbone with toffee notes and a sharp hop kick. Moderate to high carbonation. Bitter finish.

From eelbasher in locals 5.5, thanks Andrew! Pours golden amber with a tan head that falls quick. Aroma is like an oatmeal cookie with a little bit of citrus. Sweet malt is dominant, flavors of caramel, molasses, and just enough pine hop to counter the sweetness between sips. Carbonation is a touch more prickly than I would like.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep, clear, copper color, with a small creamy tan head that settles slowly. Aroma of dark fruits with, black cherries, and a tiny whiff of alcohol. Flavor has a nice sweetness, dark fruits, black cherries, plums, very light hints of caramel. Finishes with a slightly spicy dryness and a hop bitterness. Medium body, very smooth, moderate carbonation.

8/15/13 bottle. given to me by Ken. What's happening to our neighborhood? Craft beer from everyone!!! Piney nose. Good malt flavor. Darker fruit taste. Surprised it was 8% alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Light amber with average white head. Slight toasted malt in the nose. Malty sweet flavor, hint of citrus/ lemon. Full palate, this tastes of a vintage recipe. Tom and his team did right with these tavern beers. They are reminiscent of an earlier day. Yards has made a leap with this series. Go Mountain Hawks.
