COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This powerful and complex golden ale pays homage to Founding Father and fellow brewer, Thomas Jefferson. Yards Brewmaster, Tom Kehoe, worked closely with Philadelphia’s historic City Tavern to recreate this recipe, employing honey, rye, and wheat, just like the beer Jefferson made at Monticello.

Bottle. The pour was a clear medium brown with a slight orange hue and an average (1-2 finger) off-white creamy head that lasted a decent time, finally reducing to a large puddle with a medium collar and had good streaky lacing. The aroma was of a toasted caramel malt, citrus hops and a doughy yeast with notes of toffee, dark fruit (grapes and plums) and possessed a slight alcohol tinge. The taste very lightly sweet and a bit malty with a hint of toffee from the start, then slowly became exceptionally bitter with a note of dark fruit and a bitter citrus peel ending. The flavor lasted a decently long time after the swallow, with a strong bitterness left lying on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was between light and medium in body and slightly dry in texture with a medium carbonation. Overall a good powerful tasting brew with a nice bitter malty fruitiness...

Pours attractive orange-amber with small off-white head that leaves small lacing. Aroma is straightforward: malt, rye, pine. A bit more complexity in the glass especially as it warms, with caramel, dough, floral hops, medium but not lingering bitterness. Higher ABV than expected from the light body. Interesting from an historical perspective, but closer to unobjectionable than exceptional.

So glad to be home with an ale that has great flavor. Rich amber color. Deep malt and bitters with a slight fruit taste. Go for this when you want an ale. Bottle.

Pours a hazy amber gold. Has a faint malt, rye, and pine aroma. Has a malty taste with caramel, grains, and earthy flavors. A dry and bitter malt aftertaste.

Nice scent, good light brown appearance, taste was favorable, good on the palate, a good overall beer, I just had a first taste, will buy again in a six pack. This one I got at a package store, that let you fill your own six pack, with a choice of about 12 different brews.

On tap. Aroma of rye, malt, and slight resin hop. Pours deep red/brown with a nice white malty head. Taste is malt forward with some nice rye and earthy hop. Overall, tastes like a really good homebrew. The weakest of Yards’ presidents methinks.

Bottled. Poured I don’t know. Some malts with a bunch of weird berries. Not that great IMO.
