This powerful and complex golden ale pays homage to Founding Father and fellow brewer, Thomas Jefferson. Yards Brewmaster, Tom Kehoe, worked closely with Philadelphia’s historic City Tavern to recreate this recipe, employing honey, rye, and wheat, just like the beer Jefferson made at Monticello.

A clear amber/golden pour with one finger of head. Aroma is moderate malty with citrus and a slight hop near the finish. Taste is moderately sweet with a medium body and a crisp citrus bitter finish a refreshing ale!!

Poured from 12 oz. bottle at Seasons 52 in King of Prussia, PA. Clear amber with an off-white head and good lacing. Malty aroma of caramel/toffee, raisin and a wide variety of other fruit that were not easily separated, plus a bunt of citrus. Taste of toasted malt, toffee, more mixed fruit, yeast and the same bare hint of citrus. Medium/full body and low/medium carbonization. Feels good on the tongue. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from a sampler. Pours a transparent amber with a thin layer of off white head. Aroma of fruits and caramel. Taste of fruit (pears?) and caramel with a nice boozyness.

Bottle from sampler pack. Pours clear golden amber with fizzy off-white head. Aroma is bready malts, pear, floral notes, faint booze, and light caramel. Flavor is dry malts, medium hops, light booze, and some light tropical fruit notes; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

From a bottle. Pours almost clear light copper with a fizzy off white head. Tastes strong like booze with a hint of dryness, but also very smooth. Earthy, light ash, tobacco, raisin. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like light booze, dry raisins, dough, and earth.

Poured from 12oz bottle. Very antique offering from Yards. The opening brought me back to the 1700s with hints of hibiscus and overtones of wheat grass. Complete through the finish with a hefty kiss of hops. --you've been Dubbed.

This is a great beer. Light aroma and color, not hoppy at all, with great body and a great balance of sweet and bitter. I loved it.

Literally my favorite Yards Brew. Often had this one at the Tasting Room on Delaware Avenue. Malt forward, with a slight rye bite, which the honey from the bright tanks mellows so nicely. At 8%, the booze is VERY well hidden. Great beer for just about anytime.

Aromas of nutty malts, earthy hops, corn cereal, and hints of spice. Clear, deep gold-amber with a mostly fading off-white head. Dry, malt-forward. Medium bodied, smooth.
