4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
THOUGHTS: A very nice and interesting beer. An interesting idea, too, to merge the two styles. Not as good as the blending of the two styles could be, but it was very easy to drink. Hid alcohol quite well. Incredible how it has the actual flavors of a dubbel but the lighter mouth feel like a tripel.
TECHNICAL: Drank 3/18/2013. Bottle. Poured a clear, very dark red that basically looked dark brown in the glass with an average, tan head that mostly diminished and left excellent lacing. The aroma contained heavy dark bread, grain, molasses, caramel and chocolate; moderate doughy and spicy yeast; raisin; cherry; brown sugar; and dark fruit. The initial flavor was lightly acidic, slightly bitter and moderately sweet; while the finish was heavily sweet, lightly acidic and slightly bitter with a fairly long duration. There was dark bread, caramel, brown sugar, raisins, molasses, spices, toast, chocolate, yeast, bread, cake, spicy yeast, dark fruit, cherry, sweet tobacco, doughy yeast, slightly sour fruit and slight alcohol. The medium to full body was slightly syrupy and sticky on the lips with lightly fizzy carbonation, that softens with each sip, and a lightly alcoholic finish.

Pours a nice brown color with off-white head. Wheat, biscuit, cocoa, and caramel malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a bit of dark fruit.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a clear mahogany brown body with a small frothy beige head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is very heavy and fruity with lots of malt and a bit of light alcohol. It’s especially heavy on banana, with candi sugar and a heavy yeastiness. The flavor is rather sweet, reminds me a bit of a cross between a Dubbel and a Belgian Quad really. Heavy candi sugar, dark fruits, over-ripe bananas, fairly prominent alcohol, caramel, some light chocolate malt notes. Full bodied and chewy with a slight stickiness and fizzy carbonation. Interesting beer with a lot of intense flavors going on, but not something that I’d drink with regularity.

750ml bottle from Pizz5116 that he picked up from the brewery. Thanks bro! Poured a dark amber brownish color with almost no head. Aroma of sweet dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate. Taste is nice. Roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, sweet raisins, yeast, and a mild nuttiness. Good stuff.

Usually Belgian beers are not my favorite, but to my surprise this one from Yards is very tasty. Aromas of caramel and chocolate with an appearance of a medium to dark amber. Would love to try more from Yards!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared by Jeff. Thanks man.
The beer is dark chestnut brown with a thick, beige head. Ample lacing coats the glass. The aroma offers a prominent dose of banana, followed by Belgian yeast, malt, brown bread. Too much banana character in the flavor. A bit sharp and unbalanced. Not on par with the authentic Belgian dark beers I have grown to love.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Right off the bat, I’m not getting this one. The aroma is a bit "off" -- clearly boiling over with sugary sweetness but with an added almost rubbery thing. The pour is visually appealing enough ... super deep and dark reddish black with a thick blanket of off-white, pock-marked foam. The beer drinks with an overwhelming dark fruit sweetness, thick with prune all the way, and add some dark brown sugar, just a bit thick and out of balance for my taste. (#5261, 9/21/2013)

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice three centimetre tall tan head and a dark brown, ruby and violet tint when held up to a light. Aroma of malt, alcohol, pit fruits, raisins, earth, yeast and some bananas - very nice and a good blend of a dubbel and trip, with the smell favouring dubbel. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty malt flavours with a lot of pit fruits, some earth and medicinal notes and hints of light spices overlayed with sugars throughout. Aftertaste shows a strong yeast note, some alcohol, bananas again and a good pit fruit sweetness. Overall, a well-crafted beer that blends styles, but shows a nice complexity and flavour profile - great to try! I just wish this wasn’t in such a large format bottle. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 06-July-2013 for US$7.91 sampled at home in Washington on 06-September-2013.
