COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Taking elements from two classic Belgian styles, we’ve crafted a beer that incorporates the best characteristics of both tripels and dubbels. Trubbel boasts the strength and spiciness of a tripel and the rich malt character of a dubbel. We brew this uncommon ale with a classic Belgian yeast strain, dark Belgian candi sugar, and a unique blend of specialty malts, producing subtle biscuit, chocolate, and caramel overtones. Available November through January beginning in even years only.

A truly wonderful experience. I have to admit i wasn't expecting much, only because i was paying attention to some of the more highly rated US beers we had at the tasting. But all that aside, this was a truly fantastic beer drinking experience. Love the bottle, huge one litre swing top bottle, ensured my experience lasted longer, because i got a bigger serving sample. This was a very mellow, yet complex beer. Lovely chocolate-ish malts, some sour fruit, maybe some cherries and grapes, defintiely a bit vinous. Beautiful tart refreshing sourness to finish off (a bit Rodenbachish), with a lingering finish. I won't ramble on about it to much, i think i did last night when having it, everyone was probably like "shut up, dickhead", coz i kept going on about it. What can i say, i loved it.

definitely the champ of the evening against some very highly fancied opposition - d head, celebrator, h of d, old horizontal, etc etc - this was a mother. the perfect combination of sourness with dark malts, what can I say. like goudenband blended with brooklyn black choc stout. definitely "purple" tasting as ringo says - dark grape juice all the way. not many discrete flavours popping out, just clean, smooth, rich maltiness + quenching tartness. sex in a barnyard.

This ale is a mix between a dubble and trippel. Flavor tart and fruity. Finishes dry and bitter.

This is an experimental effort to brew a dubble at tripel strength. It has a sugary taste at turns. But there are enough nuances to keep one drinking. I noticed a number of various fruit flavors in the beer. It hides the high octane well.

Found this on a weekend in Jersey. Huge brown clamp-top bottle, perfect for homebrewing. Pours a thick milky brown, with a slightly tan white head. (You have to pour fairly vigorously to generate a decent sized head.) Aroma is very authentic. Fruity and estery. Flavor is very sweet and smooth, with hints of banana, grape, a bit of dry nuttiness, and a little plum. Very full bodied, almost thick. Tastes of caramel malt, with a touch of roastiness. An interesting style unto its own. I’d easily buy this again.

I had a small draft of the Trubbel. With an ABV of 9.6% I was surprised how well the high alcohol tasted was hidden. Aroma was strong, initially I had a "raisin" taste in my mouth, and some hop bitterness. It’s a big beer, worth sampling.

This beer from Yards was a very interesting brew, it had a dark Mahogany colored brew with a tint of red. It has a brownish/tan foam head. But then we get to the taste. It had fruitish smells of pineapples and oranges. But the taste satisfied the most advanced beer drinker. It has a complex smokey taste that has has the hint of fruits with a hint of hoppiness. It is a good beer with a good after taste, it is defintly worth the money.

Hmmm, i was quite high when tasting this brew so my rating may be a little off. I did love this brew. It was very dark in color. Not much head. Very sweet and chocolate. I had the 1 liter bottle, i liked that!

on cask: first impression was very sweet. It went well with to food we had, but I can’t imagine drinking one whole.
