Muddy dark brown with medium tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, berry fruity, sour yeasty. Taste is very sour, blueberry, yeasty, light cherry. Full body. Calls itself a cross between a dubbel and trippel, but there's some definite lambic quality to this.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 hopscotch (8217) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 8, 2003
This beer rocks!
Very dark beer with a murky, burnt orange color when held up to bright light. Creamy, well-tanned head with great retention.
The nose is awesome; a marriage of styles... abbey, dubbel and lambic-like. Tart cherries, citrus fruit and prune.
The flavor is also tart with citrus fruit and very smooth malt. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lengthy, tart, tangy, astringent finish. World class ale!

Draft courtesy of Geoff, thanks! Cloudy brown color. Aroma of cocoa. Taste is very sweet chocolate, too sweet for me.

750ml bottle. Poured a dark mahogany color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of bananas, dark fruits, all around fruity, and yeast. Tastes of bananas, some bread, dark fruits, and chocolate.

Murky brown body with a thin tan head. This is practically more of a Flemish sour ale than a dubbel or trippel. Sweet and tart cherry aroma with some aged oak. Body is dry and sour with some yeasty complexity and a dry finish, which helps to hide the alcohol. A very unique brew, but kinda misclassfied. Thanks to slob for sending me the bottle.

Had this at the HBF. Pours dark brown. Aroma of malt, fruit, peat. Tastes malty, with some fruitiness, earthiness, and sweet caramel flavor at the finish. Nice style.

amazing stuff. the 1 litre swingtop bottle was a good start. belgian sour ale character - wood and cherry aroma, deep murky brown and imposing. tastes initially of cherry with a big burst of sourness. some surprise chocolate and tomato juice flavours came through later in the glass. was just staggered by this - the hich alcohol was evident but not out of place. cultivated some of the yeast and it made a great batch of home brew so that was an added bonus rather than a subtracted bonus
