I don’t usually like whiskey notes in beer but this is just the right balance, Maybe a bit too much vanilla but very drinkable, Light cola color and a small bit of smoke.

Tap bocktown. Big & black, nice lacing from a creamy head. Neutral aroma. Wew, from the start the taste is lots of whiskey, whiskey laced porter. What else can be said except if you want bourbon, go get a shot, don’t mix it with good porter, if I want boiler-maker, I’ll order a boiler-maker, go figger. Piss me off. Yes, if you didn’t guess it, bourbon whiskey is what this beer is all about. Bourbon is in yer face, not impressed - bullshit, exactly as stated, porter aged in bourbon soaked barrels, what else would you expect?

Very nice. Scent is a light sweet raisin tobacco for the bourbon to sink in. Color is dark black with white head. Flavor had that sweet residual sugar but the bitter malt balanced it. A cocoa nibs and woody taste. The bourbon comes out at the end. Nice and even bourbon, not overly boozy. I liked that. Good 7%. Tap

32oz mini growler from Xroads. Poured a flat body dark chocolate brown with a smaller frothy beige head. Aroma/flavor of mild chocolate milk with light bourbon and vanilla notes along with a slight alcohol kick. Body has some fizzy carbonation that easily makes itslef known over a slightly thinner body. Still a surprise solid beer from Yards.

Nice & soft on the palate. Good aroma & very nice pour. The bourbon is subtle but adds a nice twist on the style. Good stuff!

Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma has loads of toasted coconut and some vanilla...very bourbon forward without the booziness. Flavor follows suit but a bit more bourbon and whiskey with less toasty coconut...good roastiness and a touch of burnt molasses. Mouthfeel is light / medium and the finish is roasty/boozy with faint hints of vanilla and coconut.

Tasted 2/28/15 at Yards Brewing Tasting room. From tap was served in chalice. Very little head. Very dark almost black appearance. Nice aroma consisting of notes of vanilla and chocolate. Roasted malty taste of vanilla, chocolate and bourbon. Well balanced, nothing was overwhelming including the alcohol or bourbon. Nice smooth cocoa finish.
Was very impressed with this beer and would definitely drink again. Unfortunately this barrel aged versions availability is very limited. Seasonally aged and only available in kegs, they do not currently bottle it.
