Slick (1956), Minnesota, USA Feb 10, 2004 Nice light golden color, small white head that faded slowly. The aroma was malty and fruity with a nice sweetness and mild hop presence. The taste was Malt and fruity with a very nice sweet side and smooth as hell, the hops are fairly weak for the style but still as a brew in general it does quite well as a summer brew and is highly drinkable. austinpowers (2827), New York, New York, USA Nov 28, 2003 With Original, Yarpivo is finally firing on all cylinders! This is a Helles with some subtlety and possessing something other than alcohol taste (which is sadly sort of a Yarpivo trademark). Head retention sucks, and the beer in the glass looks like urine, BUT the aroma is a nice grassy one and the flavor is a tad herbal. Dominion Lager this isn't, but cut these Russian folks some slack. By Soviet standards, this passes muster as an acceptably hay-ish brew with a light malt body. PorterPounder (2810), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 30, 2003 A step above the usual Russian lagers - has a bit more body - I see it is classified as a Helles - that explains the extra body. Bit of a buttery aroma with some doughy accents - light golden appearance - thin white quickly dissipating white head. Crisp flavor with some slight spicy undertones. Detect a bit of sweet honey as well. Turns a tad metallic near the end but still a decent Russian beer. Nejhleader (779), Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 12, 2006 It’s not bad, but by no means is it good. This is a very average lager tasting beer. From Russia, with not much love. JPDIPSO (4210), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA May 11, 2004 Light golden color with a moderate off white head. Even for the lower ABV this one seems to have a light aroma. Nose of old grass and pale malt as well. Dry chalky start leading to a powdery grainlike sweetness. No real malt character, but drinkable.
