Cask handpull at White Cliffs BF 2012. Clear deep gpld lasting white head. Decent mouthfeel. Decent hops on end. Decent strongish British beer. Touch of fart on aroma. Otherwise fine if a tad unremarkable.

Bottle conditioned, 500ml. Clear gold with white head. The aroma was fresh grapefruit with grass cuttings, the look was perfect, but by golly, the flavours were challenging. Sharp, citrusy, dry hopped, just my cup of tea normally, but these were tongue stripping. I wanted to love it at each gulp, but it just didn’t happen. Never mind.

Cask conditioned @ South Western Arms, Soton. Pale hoppy beer. Straightforward british hops with orangey edge. Suprisingly clean feel and quite drinkable with a tasty hop finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Hazy amber with a creamy, white head. Tart, citrusy nose. Very thin-bodied. No real malty feel, just sourish almost Brett-like accents. Lightly hoppy, dry finish. Obviously another bottle conditioning gone terribly wrong. 290106

Bottle. Cloudy golden coloured with a huge white head. Weird aroma of fruits and yeast with acidic notes. Flavour of leather, fruits and yeast with acidic notes. Tastes like a bad gueuze.

A hazy orange beer with a thick white head. The aroma is slightly acidic combined with notes of oranges. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of straw, but also a slight spicy note.

Cask (gravity dispense), Ealing Beer Festival 2005. Beer of the day for me (and the last beer of the day as it happens). Quite pale golden colour. The aroma is bursting with juicy, tangy, spicy hops. Grapefruit and other citrus fruit in the flavour. Not much malt in evidence, but that’s not what this beer is aiming for. Dry and very bitter. The finish is quite tart. And it packs an alcohol punch as well. Quite uncompromising. A bit of a bruiser - brash and brassy - that the innocuous appearance left me unprepared for. Terrific stuff.
