Wow, this is the real deal. Nice work from EtF! Richly malty with a light caramel, sharply sour but balanced with the sweet and funk. A harbinger of great things.

Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Thanks to Lushawn’s Dad. Amber pour without much in the way of head. Some red wine, grape skin, and oak. There is a ton of vinegar and lemon juice. The flavor is brutally sour and acidic. Quite acetic, too. Red wine vinegar, some lemon juice, and lots of grape. Oak, cherry skin, and green apple. Too much.

Pours a pretty clear brown with little off-white head. Funk, tartness, and some barrel on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes tart and dry.

Sample @ RBWG, Asheville. Thanks to wedgie for the Tennessee whale! The pour’s deep red with a tight head. Woody red wine barrel nose. Strawberry jam and some balsamic. Pennies. Taste has mild tart brett, dried wood and pollen. Acetic funky accents. Spoiling red fruits. Doesn’t fall into the heavy-handed tactics of many American sours. Light body, active carbnonation. Quite nice.

Offering shared at RateBeer Grand Tasting 2014 (St. Louis, MO). Pours a deeper copper hue, a gentle haziness, nice glow is deeper, a bit reddish glow with frothy offwhite head with a loose bubbly ring, laces ok as a mellow ring. Aromas are some decent cherries, kiss of raspberry and wet oak. A bit sweet with some gentle carmelized and bready malts, touch of funk and lactic elements. Initial is firmly lactic and twangy up front, a bit sharp with good sour cherries, touches of cranberry. Big lactic elements sustain through with some balsamic, bigger red wine and touches of raspberry. Firmly sour up front, a bit funky into the backend with yogurt, some bread, farmhouse yeast. A bit softened as that sharper lactic bite finishes. More sour cherries, the acidity is potent and quite lovely. Nice bite of life, a bit of yogurt and cobwebs as we finish. Nice. Nose a bit behind.
