3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 T2Tool (352) - Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA - AUG 20, 2009
This beer has become one of my favorite session beers around Nashville over the past year. Have had both on bottle and draft, but this review regards the draft had at the taproom. Arrived with a small tan head on top of a clear brown color with hints of red on the edges. Aroma is of caramel malts. Caramel also comes through in the taste along with roasted malt and some bready notes. More than easy to down a few of these in a single sitting.
2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 MrChopin (2065) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - AUG 1, 2009
Transparent ruby, thin white head is gone if you look away. Nose is straightforward roasted malt, hints of smoke and caramel. The caramel is strong in the flavor, washing everything else out but slight hints of smoke. Pretty dry, short, empty finish. Too sweet to session and to simple to savor.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Barrios (1243) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUL 30, 2009
Pours a copper-amber body with a ring of beige head. Smells of roasted and caramelized malt. Flavor is the same. Finish is thin and short. Extra points for being a local brew.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 ucusty (2619) - Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA - JUL 29, 2009
Quite possibly my first rate from the state. Thanks to Todd for sharing! Clear brown pour with thin beige head. Sweet malty aroma. Caramel, light hops and toffee. Dry and slightly astrigent finish
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 HogTownHarry (4809) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - JUL 19, 2009
Bottle (12oz). Clear deep copper, very small fizzy off-white head. Sweet roast caramel and tart fruit aroma, slightly bitter. Taste - damn, that reminds me of something I made at a U-Brew about 17 years ago - malty, earthy - yes, a touch extract-y but light and decently balanced - perhaps a little sugary, but it seems to have a fair bit of dry herbal bitterness to balance that - hardly any alcohol at all - perhaps not on-style (would I know?) but tasty - I think I am loving more than most. Light mouthfeel, quite watery actually, weak carbonation, but that makes it easier to drink - it finishes fast, but leaves a dry, somewhat bitter earthy coating on the tongue. I like it - hell, I’d drink this again!
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 WeeHeavySD (3341) - San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA - JUL 3, 2009
12oz shared with Wetherel. my brother picked me up in Nashville. Pours brownish with a tan head. Nose is sweet. Taste is bitter too hopped and a big old eh, but then again I don’t really dig on alts.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Soonah (1120) - Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - JUN 19, 2009
From tronraner via trade. Dark copper or light brown on the pour. Short, off-white head. The aroma is toasted malt, with lighter, fruity sweetness. The flavor is mostly toasted malt with an artificial fruit flavor and some light spice. Thin mouthfeel. Not great.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 willblake (2587) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - JUN 10, 2009
20090610 12oz bottle from the Five Points BP gas station in Huntsville, AL. Dark caramel color with small, fading tan head. Aroma is caramel, nuts, and toasty grain with light background earthiness. Medium to light body with fine eff. Rich, malty flavors, light coffee notes, bready, a bit of a cereal lingering aftertaste but otherwise finishes dry and mostly quenching. Decent enough--this seems to be a pretty reliable brewery based on the three beers I’ve had.
