COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2009 no head, clear brown color, caramel sweetness nose, big malt bomb, very mild hint at a roast, a hint at some rye bitterness, mildly sweet but not at all cloying, just enough bitters to give a some balance to the beer, wouldn’t have guessed altbier, maybe vienna lager, either way i like this beer quite a bit, especially given that its brewed in the south

Sampled at Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition festival. Pours clar bronze / brown with a soapy beige head. The aroma is nutty, creamy and toasty with some sweetness. Medium clean body with small amount of carbonation. The toast is a lightly soured version of the aroma with some lemon. Not as interesting or complex as the aroma.

A dark amber pour with a tan head. Aroma is caramel. Flavor is distinct and interesting. Sweet licorice (light) notes. Some vegetable thing going on. Creamy and zingy feel.

Reddish-brown with a tan head. Nutty, roasted malts abound. Similar to an English brown ale. Light body with corn flavors balance out the sweet malts. Satisfying and complex. Good for those who claim they don’t like dark beers.

Clear dark amber, no hint of corn or ’maize’, more like a Vienna on the nose. Light in body, seems turned, moderate sour kick. Not gonna finish this.

A - Poured with finger of head. Seemed to be little carbonation therefore not a lot of lacing down the glass. Pours a dark brown/ruby color. Nice color. S - Malts dominate the smell. Chocolate, roasted malts, little nutty dominate with hops in the background but stuggling to distinguish themselves. The style lends itself to a malty aroma, but I would prefer a little more hop aroma. T - Not a bad beer, but similar to the smell...I wish it were a bit more balanced. The burnt/roasted malt flavors come across a little harsh without enough hop flavor to balance. Style lends itself to a malt heavy flavor, but due to the imbalance of the roasted/dark malts it isn’t a very smooth beer. There is a touch of fruity ester flavor towards the end. M - Not bad. The darker malts and residual sweetness give it a nice mouthfeel. I would assume this is very nice from a tap. D - Not a bad beer but just not my favorite. Not one I’ll seek again but I will be trying their other offerings.
