COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish.

Bottle enjoyed at the NSSRQSOSLT, 1/10! Thanks to Gabe for bringing this one on account of my liking altbiers. Too bad folks were pouring it, but I guess ya gotta spread the liver out wisely at events like this! The pour was amber to the lighter side of copper. The aroma was toasty caramel malts, fruity elements. The flavor was caramel, fruits, nuts, astringent roasty finish. The mouthfeel was a bit on the light side for the style, the overall body and flavor lacking depth and fullness on both the malt and hop side, like a true alt should be. But, hey, another alt tick is cool by me! Long live the alt!

12 ounce bottle thanks to Suttree. Pours a dark red-brown color with a small white head. A sweet nutty and oddly fruity nose. A decent flavor; crisp, fruits, berries, rich bananas and malt, sweet caramel. Lots of spicy banana malt. Decent. Easygoing.

Not bad. Guess I’ve always thought of this brew more as a nut brown as opposed to a kolsch or altbier. Whatever, guess I was wrong. Nice palate. Good mouth feel. Not exactly complex or earth shattering. A bit too heavy for a good session beer. This one doesn’t miss the mark, but doesn’t really stand out either.
