Commercial Description:
Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish.

Bottled during the 4th week of August. Appearance: Pours out a near clear, humble-looking, dark brown body with a thin, ivory-hued head. Smell: Nutty, earthy maltiness in the aroma with notes of cocoa and ripened fruits, as well as some spicy hop accents. Taste: The expected brown maltiness with its nuttiness, bread crust hints, and taste of mild cocoa powder. Fairly fruity throughout. Mild hop character with just a bit of spiciness and low level bitterness for balance. Further earthy nuttiness on the back end with that ever persistent fruitiness. Finishes relatively dry. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Soft mouthfeel. Drinkability: A pleasant, easy-drinking brew from good ole Yazoo out of Nashville. I should, the Good Lord willing, have no trouble clearing through the remainder of the six-pack.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of brentfeesh. Pours a clear deep amber with a lacing beige head. Aroma of caramel, some vinous and oxidized Sherry accents with an underlying vague tartness. A little chocolate also. Hardly any bitterness. 221109

Pours clear amber/brown with a thin white head that quickly dissipates. A very faint aroma of malt, nothing distinctive. The taste is very dry with a slightly off-putting burnt character. Watery with a bitter background, but no aftertaste to speak of. Harmless and uninspiring beer.

Draft at the brewery, part of a sampler. Pours clear brown with a quickly vanishing small off-white head. Aroma is roasted malt, toast, caramel. Flavor is really roasty, with caramel malt and hops. I’m kind of surprised not more people had the same impression I did, that there is just a massive roast quality to this. Light bodied, thin consistency, and a quick dry finish.
