COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An authentic example of a Bavarian hefeweizen, cloudy and tart, with notes of banana and citrus. Gold Medal winner in the Bavarian hefeweizen category at the 2004 Great American Beer Festival!

At brewery. Cloudy gold. Initial sulfur and apple smell yields to yeasty aroma and restrained banana aromatics. A whiff of bubblegum. Wheaty flavor, some spice and cider character. Dry and crisp. Mild phenolics but not particularly clovelike. Seems far more of a witbier than a hefeweizen. Cleansing, but with a tinny aftertaste. The best, and least estery beer I had while at the brewery.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2010 Sample at Flying Saucer in Nashville. Pours a hazy straw color with a thin foamy white head that burns away slowly. Partial sheet of lacing on the glass. The aroma is wheaty and fruity. Medium, somewhat crisp aroma with flavors of wheat, banana and a touch of spice. The finish is short and fruity. Fairly average overall.

Pours, cloudy pale amber, 1/2 finger white head that disappears quickly, banana spice aroma and flavor, lightly carbonated, watery feel, citrus finish with a slight hops hit.

Has a nice hazy pour with very little foam. The foam that did appear was thin and sparse. The color was cloudy with tints of orange, yellow, and gold. The aroma was a little fruity with hints of wheat and malts. The carbonation was pretty tight which gave me the chance to taste every flavor.

Very cloudy and banana yellow in colour. Very dry, banana and clove with maybe a dash of the citrus they talk about. Lots of lively carbonation but a bit light on flavour. Super easy to drink and overall enjoyable.

Purchased in Nashville on my trip there. Pours a cloudy yellow-beige colour with a white foamy head, good retention and lots of lace. A whole bunch of tiny sediments are everywhere, floating around. Beautiful wheaty nose that is refreshing with notes of witbier yeast and cloves. Wet oily mouthfeel and medium-bodied. The taste is a nice blend of the wheat, bananas with hints of bubble gum in the aftertaste. A great first experience for Yazoo... must try more while I am here in Nashville.

Chattanooga, Tn. - Mellow Mushroom - on tap. Cloudy dark yellow pour, fluffy white head, nice lacing. Fresh aroma of bubble gum and cloves. Good solid hefe flavor with some bananas and cloves. Decently thick mouthfeel. Very refreshing after several block walk from the parking lot.

On tap at the brewery. This was my sister’s favorite beer there so we grabbed a growler to go to bring to a party later. Great hazy yellow pour with a nicely formed white head and some lacing. Aroma is your standard banana and clove, along with wheatiness and bubble gum. Flavor is wheaty with both banana and lemon notes, clove and other spice, and bubble gum. Not going to blow you away, but it’s balanced and tasty. Medium-bodied for the style with a tiny bit of citrusy tartness. A very nice hefeweizen overall. Definitely a crowd pleaser.
