3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Orange/amber pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma of light resiny hops. Light sweet malt and a perfumy hop bitter. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Decent drinker with a different twang.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle, hand marked #34 on the cap. Bottled August 2010 and consumed October 2010. Holy cow! I thought Mikkeller went overboard with their Single Hop series, but Yazoo has taken IPA experimentation to another level with this series. The pour yields a hazy, dusky, rusted orange-amber body with a frothy, foaming head of beige bubbles. Jagged flares of hard, wet lacing seem etched into the glass. Aromas are based in honey and toffee malt, hinting also at some orchard fruit. Spicy grass and lemony hops compliment one another nicely. Iím strangely picking up a bit of oak, or a malt-hop reaction that Iím perceiving as oak, and thereís almost a tinge of bourbon in there. The first sip confirms to me that my nose isnít broken as, sure enough, I get a slight touch of woody vanilla. I canít place the origin of this phenomenon, but it is there nonetheless. Weird. Anyway, buttery toffee and biting, spicy grasses counter one another well, while dry lemon pith amps up the alpha acidity. Medium bodied, the palate is initially wet, pushing towards a drier finish that is ushered in by overly lively carbonation. This one is just strange to me. Not really my kind of IPA, really.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. Pour is hazy/cloudy copper orange with minimal head. Aroma is toffee, earthiness, and lemon zest in the background. The lemon starts to come forward more as the beer starts to warm up. Taste is sweet with toffee, lemon, and a bitter hop finish. Long lasting fruit aftertaste to go along with nice bitterness. A very interesting ipa with a malt forward flavor, and an interesting lemon presence. It definitely works for me.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. Canít say Iíve ever familiarized myself with Sorachi Ace hops before, so this one is interesting. Pours a murky, cloudy, dark orange. Aroma of lemonís (not zest), kiwiís, and malt. Something else is present too that I just canít put my finger on. Full body for an IPA with very soft, unexpected carbonation. The big malt backbone is what stands at the forefront with notes of gritty toffee, lemon, and a certain earthiness that you donít find in IPAs.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle, 7 weeks old. Not quite clear with a spongy white head. Nose is powdered lemon tea mix with a touch of toffee. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Tastes like lemon tea as well; some orange peel and grapefruit finishing with numbing and onion grass. Odd hopping that grew on me.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a pretty dark and murky orange. Nose is cheesy and floral, taste is actually decent, loads of black pepper, lemon zest, hard to drink because itís so strange.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottled 3rd week of August 2010. Pours semi-hazy copper/amber with a one-finger off white head that leaves a ring of lacing and recedes to a light foamy cap and ring. Citrusy aroma of oranges and lemons, some grass and floral, caramel and bready malts to round it out. Good strength. Flavor is some light citrus hops, orange, lemon, grapefruit, spicy hops, moderate caramel malt sweetness, moderate to good bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slick, medium carbonation. A very good IPA, but I did enjoy #35 a bit more.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Big thanks to phaleslu for setting me up with this fine IPA. Pours tawny brown with an off-white head. The aroma has smooth caramel malt along with sharp hops that have citric, floral, lemon, grapefruit and flowers. Medium / light crisp body that is lightly rough and has minor sharp carbonation. The flavor starts off with smooth lemon, pine and grapefruit hops along with some light malt hiding in the back along with some minerals. The finish is a bit resiny, but has the smoothness of lemons here and light caramel. Nice beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Poured medium orange with a nice cap of off-white head. The aroma was deep and syrupy sweet with candied caramel, molasses, and vanilla topped by an odd fruity and floral (think wet, decomposing floral) hop presence.. unlike anything Iíve come across. The flavor found syrupy molasses and vanilla sweetness at the core.. the same fruit as the nose plus pine resin provided bitterness around.. odd malts with sticky residual bitterness on the finish. Medium-bodied and well carbonated on the palate.. too sweet for my liking, bordering on candy-like and cloying.. weird hop and weird beer, but I enjoyed the change of pace.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to Brian for this. Rather good IPA. Aroma of very fresh hops at the beginning. The aroma and flavor is a little different than other hoppy beers, I am sure due to the sorachi. Serving: Bottle
