3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark caramel orange, fine whitish head. Aroma is caramel, lingering pine, woody hop aroma. Taste is strong, woody, spicy bitter. Sweet apple, caramel malt. If I enjoyed woody, spicy hops more than the citrus hops that I prefer this would easily be over a 4.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear gold with a nice off-white head that quickly falls into a soapy scum.
Faint hop aroma.
The flavor has a bitter bite but no malt comes on to balance it in any way.
A step backward from previous projects.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Taste thanks to Richmond crew! murky tan thin white ring, tepid looking. Nose of heavy peanut, honey and tea. Flavor is thin, bitterness reigns, light orange peel and pine through finish, bit of unpleasent spice. Too burning hop bitterness, dank and old, flat and thin.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
6 pack purchased at Bearden Beer Market. Iím polishing off the last bottle tonight and Iím still not impressed. The glory days of Hop Project are gone, but how many times can Yazoo do giant west coast styled hop bombs? If they are to continue the purpose of the hop project there will be more departure from typical American IPAís and here is where we have wound up. The past few Iíve tried have indeed been different but that means the predictable and welcome massive, dank, biting attitude isnít necessarily present any longer. This one is mild with a woody bite here and there. The aroma is a little chalky with modest bite. Virtually no citrus or strong herbal notes are present. The really weird part is that the malt profile is the same: moderately sweet, basic and seems to just exist to provide a canvass for the hops to do their stuff. The problem is the hops never truly come into the spotlight. Not a bad beer, just doesnít excite me like the old Hop Projects. Iíd rather Yazoo just decide to brew the same IPA every time if it could be as good as #14 or #19 was.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Fox and Parrot. Pours a slightly hazy orange with rocky off-white head. The aroma is on the fruity side with some clean sweetness, a touch of honey, and some wood. The flavor is fresh hops, cotton candy, pine, and grapefruit. It has an assertive bitterness with some wood and chalk in the finish. Pretty good beer.

I got this in a recent trade thanks to grownfool, appreciate it! Orange, darkish color, looks a lot like the two previous Hop Project beers I had. Smell is uneventful, earthy, so sad. The flavor also left a lot to be desired. The last Hop Project beers I had were both quite intriguing and sadly this was just boring as far as the hops were concerned. oh, well, hopefully I get to try more of this crazy series.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottled 4th week of August 2010. Pours semi-hazy orange/amber with a large foamy and rocky orange-white head that wants to stick around forever and leaves multiple rings of lacing. Aroma is earthy, grassy, pine & floral hops, a bit of citrus. Moderate strength. Flavor is resinous hops, pine, earth, some citrus rind, good bitterness, only a touch of malt sweetness for balance. Finishes dry with some lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is oily and slick, a bit sticky, medium body, medium carbonation. My first Hop Project and Iím quite enjoying this one. Lookiní forward to trying #34.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle. Pour is cloudy orange, and not quite as murky as the #34. Frothy white, but maybe slightly discolored, head. Aroma is grassy with a hint of malt. Flavor is lightly sweet and fruity. Maybe like marmalade. Long, bitter finish that becomes a bit overwhelming. Fairly sticky on the palate, too.
