COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A few months ago, Yazoo asked customers to vote on their favorite Hop Project. That poll was conducted on their blog and the winner was #13. This was rebrewed for #50, so those of you that missed it now have another chance to try it. How can you tell if you are looking at a six pack of #50? The notching on the side bottle label should indicate 3rd week of May. Grab some now before they are gone. I bought mine at Kroger, so it should not be too hard to find.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2011 Pours hazy amber with a nice beige head. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, honey, and other sweet citrus fruits. Taste is sweet citrus hop with a great hop bite finish. Excellent because the aroma lead me to believe it would be sweeter than bitter but it’s not, also has enough malt backbone to support the bitterness 8 4 8 4 14..... Had on tap as 50 at the brewery. Clear gold, beautiful head retention. Aroma is insanely crisp and fresh, lots of tangerine, orange, pineapple, mango. Taste has more bitterness than the sweet aroma would lead me to believe, quite PNW in taste. Truly a marvelous beer. I want to have massive quantities of this as fresh as possible at all times at my house. 9 4 9 4 18

Copper pour with off white head and lace. Evergreen, bread, and apple on the nose. Semi sweet malt with excellent resiny bitter. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Very nice beer.

12 oz. Clear darkish orange amber with a lasting quarter inch of creamy foam. Lush nose of tropical fruit blend, caramel and resiny wood. Tastes of caramel, resin, orange fruit, and flowers, Dry finish is toasted nut shells and earthy oak. Medium body is softly carbonated, almost velvety, and well-dried on the finish.

Full bodied with a depth of bitterness, Sticky body with floral and piney notes. Nice tangy orange and grapefruit hop flavor. Big, complex and totally tasty!

Source: 12 oz bottle purchased from Frugal MacDoogal’s in Nashville.
Appearance: Poured a clear amber/orange color with a two finger, slightly off white head.
Aroma: All about the hops. Notes of grapefruit and pine dominate.
Flavor: A little bit of weak caramel malt. Pine and citrus hops and a citrus finish.
Palate: Medium body with a slick mouthfeel and solid carbonation.
Overall: I’m always pleased with the Hop Project beers. This one is no different, although not my favorite of the bunch. Very solid IPA though.

Sampled at Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition festival. Pours golden / amber with a small off-white head. The aroma has grapefruit / tropical fruits, light onion and sweet caramel malt to balance. Medium prickly body with micro carbonation. The flavor starts drier than the aroma with rind of grapfruit, woody hops and solid malt. Well balanced tasty IPA.

Bottle from Sean. Thanks. Pours out a dark orange color with a tan head on it. Smell is full of orange peel and a nice hop smell. Smells kinda like hopslam light. Taste is fruity and very citrusy. Moderate carbonation makes it very drinkable. Smooth, and this really compares to two hearted in my mind. Good stuff, too bad they are limited to 6% because I think they could really brew some outstanding stuff.

Thanks to Butters for this bottle. Slightly hazy deep reddish orange with a tall lasting off-white head. Aroma of fresh grapefruit. The flavor has a bitterness that build all the way to the finish with a firm malt support. I really liked this one.

Bottle. So this system Yazoo has got for identifying which Hop Project beer you got is pretty convoluted. This one was bottled 5/25/2011 as best I can tell, so I’m not sure if I’m in the right place. That said, the pour is a nice orange with a medium head that dies down to a few bubbles and a thin film. Aromas are an interesting mix of hops... I’m guessing Cascade from the pungent lemon and cat pee side of the nose, but there is an airiness to them with a little bit of a tropical edge. Flavor is more on the resin and lemon side of things again, with a perfect amount of malt to balance things out for a great IPA. I have really been impressed with what Yazoo is up to while here in TN and wish they had a little better distribution.

Bottle from Midtown. Fresh off the truck and Nashville’s first bottled IPA (at least for me). Pours orange amber with a slight haze and a two finger off white, very pale yellow head- webby lacing. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very nice floral hops and grapefruit aroma, with more caramelly malts coming out as it warms. Medium bodied, but lighter in the mouthfeel getting very close to watery on the finish. The malt profile is a tame blend of caramel, biscuit, and tea while the countering aggressive bitterness gives off flavors of orange and grapefruit rind. The attenuation is average, perhaps a bit more than I prefer as more sweetness may make this more "juicy." Dry and hoppy finish with lingering pine and resin. Overall a very nice IPA
