3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BelgianBeerGal (2604) - Dayton Area, Ohio, USA - APR 11, 2009Bottle in Nashville less than a week old. Really nice, easy drinking IPA. Both the flavour and aroma remind me of pink grapefruit juice that starts sweet and leaves bitterness on your tongue.

I can’t necessarily keep up with the batch #’s, but the hop project is the best offering from Yazoo. Well balanced. Hoppy and not too malty.

Poured from the bottle into my pint glass.
A: Very cloudy, amber/dark orange in color with a frothy head that stuck around.
S: Largely floral with hints of malt.
T: Initially very hoppy as it should be. Mild initial caramel malt followed by a sharp almost grapefruit kick.
M: Medium bodied beer with mild carbonation
O: Good IPA, easily drinakble, though a little heavier on the bitter side.
Serving type: bottle

On tap, a little unclear which one it was exactly but I believe this one. Very nice aroma of piney and citrus hops. Medium body, don’t notice any alcohol. Flavor nicely bitter hops, floral, pine, and grapefruit. Minimal malt balance. Quite good.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tnkw01 (581) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 4, 2011
Bottle. Not a great fan of this style but this was not bad. Flavor was, what elae hoppy. Aroma was a citrus, flower smell. Color was a golden beer color.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cybercat (2449) - Georgia, USA - JUL 26, 2011
Pours a clear coppery brown with a respectable buff-colored head. Aroma is hoppy and grassy with a strong fruity overtone that is as much apple/pear as citrus. Hoppy flavor is quite bitter but not fiercely so, with hints of grass and fruit. Texture is smooth and minimally fizzy. An interesting IPA, not my favorite but still worthy.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Finhead (912) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - JUL 6, 2011
A hazy amber pour with a tan head. The aroma is filled with floral hops and a lot of pine. The medium body has an oily texture and lively carbonation. The taste is very bitter with a long finish.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 davidajensen (163) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 5, 2011
The aroma is really nice, piney and floral. The beer has a creamy head with a decent amount of lacing. The beer pours hazy amber in color. The hops and malt are balanced, but not remarkable. It leaves a slightly yeasty aftertaste. Overall, the aroma and appearance are above average, but the taste isn’t anything special.

Bottle. So this system Yazoo has got for identifying which Hop Project beer you got is pretty convoluted. This one was bottled 5/25/2011 as best I can tell, so I’m not sure if I’m in the right place. That said, the pour is a nice orange with a medium head that dies down to a few bubbles and a thin film. Aromas are an interesting mix of hops... I’m guessing Cascade from the pungent lemon and cat pee side of the nose, but there is an airiness to them with a little bit of a tropical edge. Flavor is more on the resin and lemon side of things again, with a perfect amount of malt to balance things out for a great IPA. I have really been impressed with what Yazoo is up to while here in TN and wish they had a little better distribution.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 nearbeer (3041) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 29, 2011
12 oz. Clear darkish orange amber with a lasting quarter inch of creamy foam. Lush nose of tropical fruit blend, caramel and resiny wood. Tastes of caramel, resin, orange fruit, and flowers, Dry finish is toasted nut shells and earthy oak. Medium body is softly carbonated, almost velvety, and well-dried on the finish.

Bottle thanks to Jcwattsrugger at Jimmack’s Invitational. Pours clear amber with white head. Nose of malt, hops and caramel. Taste has a pine character to it with the usual hops balance. Nice bitterness.
