For this batch, we used some Magnum at the beginning of the boil, and then Warrior and Cascade throughout the boil and for dry-hopping in the fermenter. We have liked using Warrior but it can have a slight tea-like finish. So our goal was to see how well it blended with a classic citrusy hop like Cascade. It has the aggressive upfront bitterness we’ve come to expect from Warrior, but a mellow grapefruity flavor and aroma. This batch, #61, will be available in middle TN, and in Knoxville. It’s marked NO61NOV14.11 on the label.

Bottle from Kroger. Pours orange amber with an off white head. Aroma of floral hops and ale esters. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Caramel malt backbone with a hint german malts, countered by a piney and ctirus bitterness. Lingering Hoppy finish, but a tad soapy with that green house character that I am not a fan of.

Bottle pours a slightly hazed copper body with a small offwhite head. Lots of sticky lacing. Minty, earthy, and grassy hops aroma. Dry and oily. Taste is unbalanced on the dry and bitter hops scale. Earthy, grassy, minty and herbal. Maybe a hint of citrusy lemon. Malt is not a contender here, leading to a lack of balance. Pretty good IPA but no malt balance.

Dry earthiness. Black pepper, herbs. Sought sweetness, but more English. Must flavors, some cedar.

12 oz. Copper with lots of flotsam and a lasting sticky head. Nose of earthy resin, orange toffee, and green herb. Taste is caramel, tea leaf, spicy wood, citrus and resin. Pithy bitter on the long finish is slightly distracting. Medium body is hop-tingly, smoothly carbonated and dry.

Orange, big white head. Smells nice - citrusy and brown sugar. Flavor is nicely crisp, with a good deal of grapefruit and caramel, plus the familiar Hop Project earthiness. I actually liked this one. One of the better Hop Projects.

Clear gold, thick beige head leaves good lace. Aroma of earthy, woody, dank hops and grapefruit, along with a nice toffee-like malty sweetness. Taste has lots of earthy flavor, but is not insanely bitter, there is also some grapefruit and floral hop. Really fresh, which is always a plus.
