2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle c/o drabmuh. Thanks Matt!
A: Orange hue with amber highlights. Moderate white head that leaves a fair amount of lacing on the glass.
S: Sweet malt with hop scents in the background. It also smells of spices, like a spiced seasonal ale.
T: Spices and malt foremost, with hops trailing behind. A decent brew. A bit too sweet, though not terribly so. This is more malt heavy than I would prefer to taste in an APA. Why is there such a prevalent spice aroma and taste in an American Pale Ale? I understand pushing the boundaries, but I’m just not feeling this one.
M: Medium bodied. Slightly odd aftertaste of sweet malts and spices.
D: I wouldn’t want to drink this in quantity. A valiant effort, but a blunder nonetheless. Mediocre.

Bottle served in to an actual tulip! (At some lame Jack Daniels restaurant in Nashville’s convention center) Golden with a white head. Aroma, oh yeah, there was a little hoppy citrus note. Taste, a little like Sierra Nevada PA but with much less flavor. Not bad as the ratings overall seem to note, but nothing I’d order again unless there was nothing else of craft on the menu. Overall, what I said just there.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks to RJ for the bottle. The pour is a clear golden orange with white foam. Nose of floral hops and candied citrus peel. Some sweet bread, a touch of mango, and maybe a hint of toast. The flavor is on the sweet side. Lots of citrus and a bit of fruit, maybe peach. The hop profile is also quite floral. Very light bitterness and a fair amount of sweet malt flavor.

We love Yazoo Brewing Company, but we don’t really enjoy pale ales. So, this beer is low on our list. For a pale ale, it’s alright, but I’d rather drink their Hop Project any day of the week.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle to pint (thanks jmborggren). Looks decent; orange with thin lacing. Smells alright, but doughy like a like (along with some hops). Tastes like it smells with some wheat in there. Mouthfeel is average. Different for an APA, but not bad.

Great looking beer. Nice caramel color with a thick head. Smell faint hops. Taste citrus hops and some spicyness. There is a caramel afetrtaste. Good on a hot summer day

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A bit more malty in the aroma than hoppy. Looks fine. This is pretty good, though it’s quite maltier and less hoppy than you’d expect from a pale ale.

On tap. Pours a copper-orange with a short white head and lacing. The aroma has some hop pine and malt sweetness. The flavor is some pine and grass hops up front with a sweet malty background and aftertaste.
