COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A very special brew for our fifth anniversary. Brewed with a blend of rye and pale malts, spicy American hops, and a classic farmhouse yeast, for a tart, peppery body and an amazing dry finish. Here’s to five years of Yazoo!

Tasted on draft at the 12 South Winter Warmer in 2011. Pours clear dark golden with a thick white head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is spicy rye and spicy Saison yeast, with some caramel malt as well. The flavor is a pretty classic spicy rye Saison, although a bit on the sweet side. Body is full with lively carbonation and a long spicy yeast, spicy rye, and caramel malt finish.

Bottle. Pours a nice bright golden orange with a creamy white head that stays. Aroma is nice with the saison yeast really coming out, spicy and floral with some of the rye there, a bit citric. Flavor isn’t quite as nice, some cidery like characters that are a bit overbearing to the delicate peppery notes. Still refreshing though. Medium body and a sharp carbonation.

Aroma is light with mostly belgian yeast fruitiness. The taste is slight bitter up front followed by rye ranginess and quite a bit of belgian yeast flavor. The beer was too light on hop flavor and aroma for my taste, there was enough hop bitterness but other hop aspects were missing, imo.

bottle. clear pale orange with a small, stable, white head. apricot tartness aroma. flavors of buttery malts and tart apricot. good bit of booze in here...can’t taste it, but i can feel it. not really the refreshing saison sipper i expected..more like a belgian strong. some sources claim this is 5%, no way. i’d bet this is closer to 8%.

Bottled. Poured hazy medium orange with a sticky off-white head. The aroma picked up jammy darker fruits and honey with rye and sour barrel-ly accents. The flavor found warm honey and chewy rye bread at the core.. black pepper and rye plus sour fruit skins around.. finished sticky with sour skins and spicy rye. Medium-bodies and a bit too sour on the palate.. just ok.

Poured on draft at Yazoo Brewery into a pint glass. A: Very hazy, bright orange with a one-finger head that dissipates into a cap and decent lacing. S: Big, spicy Belgian yest notes, some bready notes as well T: Dominated by Belgian yeast characteristics. Banana and clove notes with black pepper and candi sugars. Rye taste shows up in the finish. M: On the light side of medium bodied, highly carbonated. O: The Belgian yeast overpowers the nuances of the rye/saison but still has that light saison quality.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. A very careful pour yields a huge 4 finger billowy head. Body is slightly hazy and dark gold. Tons of carbonation bubble rising up. The nose is very yeasty and has some peaches and lemon. A touch of barnyard funk but it is very faint. The taste is very fruity with peaches, apples, lemon, and orange. There is a little syrupy sweetness on the tip of the tongue that is a little distracting. The taste becomes drying as it progresses but there is still that little bit of residual sweetness left. I like very dry saisons and this one is just a little too sweet. The flavors are decent but overall feel is off. Anyhow, it is a pretty good thirst quencher and a refreshing beer.

Pours with a cloudy, golden body topped by a medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. It’s sour with a hintof sweetness, a little rye and some mustiness. Light to medium bodied, highly carbonated and dry

Cloudy yellow orange. Medium nose is orange and tangerine, with a light hint of rye. Palate is more hefe than rye, but there is definitely a rye presence which adds a nice bite into an otherwise creamy palate. Very good
