3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Suttree (3766) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 28, 2009
Cloudy brownish amber, and a thin foamy beige head. Definate rye aromas up front, with some more typical saison funk in the background.Very tart flavor at first, then a mix of rye, lemon and herbs. Seems a little odd, but I liked it.

4/27/10 - 12oz bottle. Huge fluffy white head - watch it! The aroma is light Belgian yeast and oxidized homebrew. The flavor is light Belgian, a bit watery, but sweet and spicy. There is also a hint of metal.

Bottle from Frugal MacDoogal’s in Nashville. Pours a very cloudy golden color with a thick creamy white head. Aroma is barnyard funk, Belgian yeast, banana, and rye. Flavor is - whoa, this isn’t a hefeRYEzen? Banana and clove are big here, with just a little pale malt and funk and some rye. Some slight pepper as well. Medium-bodied and a little less lively on the palate than I’d like. Not at all to style, but not a bad beer if you ignore that fact.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (3182) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 12, 2010
Draft at the new brewery. Pours a hazy orange-gold with a tiny white head. This one has a lot in common- in its look, smell, and taste- with a hefewiezen. Aroma of farmhouse funk, citrus fruits, pale malts, rye, yeast, pepper, and clove. Flavor of rye, pepper, clove, farmhouse, pale malts, citrus, hay, apple, and banana. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a spicy, peppery mouthfeel. Nice spice kick. Interesting take on a saison.
