A rich, chocolaty English Porter with a clean finish. We use the finest floor-malted Maris Otter malts from England, the same malts used for the best single-malt scotch. A portion of malted rye gives a spicy, slightly dry finish. OG: 14.40 Plato FG: 3.8 Plato IBUs: 28 SRM: 29 5.7% abv

12 oz bottle in trade with C. Bishop in tenn into half pints. Smells of some dark malts with a little vanilla caramel and coffee. looks almost black. light brown smallish head in half pint glass. Tastes like a lovely blend of dark malts over an and active palate thickness. some rye spices to enhance complexity. Overall 6.5 of 10.

Tasted on 9/22/11 from a 12oz bottle purchased at Midtown as a part of a Yazoo mixed 12 pack. Pours a nearly black dark brown with a thick light tan head that slowly recedes to thin, uneven lace. The nose is full of dark and creamy milk chocolate, freshly roasted coffee, and just a very light hint of spices that I associate with rye malt. The flavor is the same as the nose with the creamy milk chocolate, dark chocolate, freshly roasted coffee, rye spices, along with just a hint of vanilla. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a long dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and light vanilla finish.

Ar: Low-intensity burnt notes - charcoal and chocolate. Ap: Deep brown, almost opaque - medium coffee-tan head with good retention. T: Char and coffee up front - malty and sweet with some deep caramel notes - light blueberry esters in the background - fairly low bitterness P: Medium-bodied and very silky and rich - finish is medium-dry. O: A very nice porter - mouthfeel is really spot-on, rich without being sweet or cloying.

This beer smells nice and toasty, some cacao. Palate is thin and head is white, though the beer is decently dark. Flavor is nice with a slight roastiness, rye slickness, but overall kind of thinbut drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark reddish color with a ring of tan head. Aroma is dark malts, roastedness, rye chips, and some bit of sweet chocolate. Flavor is dry roasted malts, sweet milk chocolate, rye, and sunflower seeds. Finishes dry.

bottled, thanks to cavie, poured an undistinguished muddy brown to black with nice creamy cocoa and coffee aroma, flavor is not big on rye which is fine, flavor has more of a cream and coffee roast with some toffee and nuts
