3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rye in evidence here, as it should be. If you want rye in your beer, then give it a try. If not, stay away. It’s common sense, really.

Underwhelming considering the high praise. Lacks the roasted definition and real spicyness that I would’ve expected from this beer. Some chocolate and dark fruit, but its good, not great. Courtesy of Jay on his trip through Nashville.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
12 oz bottle poured into a frosted pint glass. Very little aroma that I could descern, but then they were smoking in the Hair of the Dog. Chocolate and malt flavours with an excellent mouth.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted from 12 oz brown bottle into a nonic pint glass. Thanks gregwilsonstl! It poured a clear, dark reddish brown colour with short-lived head of beige foam. Toasty, tart, medium-roast coffee acidity, nice cherry and plum notes, some spiciness from rye and possibly warm-fermented ale yeast phenols. Light body, medium carbonation. Thinner mouthfeel and drier finish than many classic porters, but also crisper and more refreshing. Elevated alcohol too, but it was completely invisible. Like a tastier, more complex AmberBock. I liked it a lot and look forward to getting some more next time I pass through Nash-Vegas.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Pours a dark brown with ruby tones and a thin tan head that diminshes very quickly. Aroma is roasty with hints of cocoa, dark fruit, and chocolate. Flavor is rich and chocolaty that finishes with a smooth, tingling, peppery finish. Well balanced!
