Nice locking beer with a pleasent citrus taste and smell. Has a medium amount of body and not much after taste. High alcohol content but is not noticeable when drinking.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Great NZ hop aroma - mango, guava, lychee, sesame seeds. All the good NZ stuff with none of the weirdness - are the hops themselves improving or are brewers learning to use them better? Or both? Clean, lean maltiness does the job and gets out of the way without being particularly remarkable. Very clean, with a looong fine bitterness that really only becomes apparent after finishing the bottle. An IPA thatís different enough from the usual to be worthwhile. Classy beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is hazy dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, flowers, herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, dough), with light notes of pepper, lemon/lime/orange zest, pineapple (both dried and fresh).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic, lightly astringent.
Letís face it, something like 90% of IPAs, especially in the US, are one-dimensional and abrasive, basically hop injection systems for your senses. Thatís why I almost never get excited about them. This one, on the other hand, is clean, balanced, bottle-conditioned, non-abrasive, non-overbearing, has more going on than just hops in the aroma, and isnít a crude resin bomb. This is maybe just short of jaw-dropping, but itís wonderfully enjoyable. Why is that so difficult to accomplish??? This reminds me a fair bit of Eugene City 200 Meter, which I also like for very similar reasons. Very well done.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours apricot with white head. Nose of fresh grapefruit, citrus, resin, pine and caramel malt. Taste is abrasively dry - lots of grapefruit and citrus, caramel malt and dry resinous tree bark. Medium body. Clean finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours pale amber with a large head.
Nose shows honey, passionfruit and lychee along with some biscuity malt and very soft caramel.
Flavours donít show so much fruit, more focussed on the sweet clean malt with faint biscuity characters followed by a bold, sharp, almost harsh bitterness.
Could use a little less carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is dry pine and a mix of tropical fruit and grapefruit. The flavor is mild citrus/tropical fruit along with the expected dry hop bite. Not the absolute best IPA but very solid all around.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle [11.2oz]. Pours a hazy, very bubbly yellow-gold with an average size lasting frothy white head. Decent lacing on the glass. Slightly mild aroma is semi-sweet and hoppy along with some grain, yeast and fruit. Very bitter flavour with lots of resiny hops along with yeast, a hint of alcohol and caramel malt. Medium bodied. Pretty good, I enjoyed it.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a slighty cloudy yellow with a big fluffy white head and nice lacing. Aroma of tropical fruits, honey, caramel and hop resin and it backs that wonderful aroma up with a very nice well balance hop resin flavour. A nice beer i would get again.

Clear yellow golden body with lasting head. Tropical fruit on the nose with lovely bitterness in the taste, mainly notice the hops and pick up a bit on the alcohol. Drank well.
