COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed initially for export to USA.
A lmited amount of kegs were released in NZ as Motueka Warrior (as a part of the annual Motueka/Yakima collaboration with Liberty Brewing)

The beer was then brewed for NZ, Aus and Italy under the Digital IPA label. It will be available throughout the southern hemisphere summer of 2011.

NZ Bottle:
This limited-release India Pale Ale (IPA) is an aggressive wee beast that is dedicated to our friend Joseph Wood of Liberty Brewing and to all those hopheads who love drinking IPA day in, day out.
Just as the term digital is all about zeroes and ones, the concept of IPA is all about malts and hops. Enjoy the rich golden malt backbone of Digital while you can... then feel it closing in as the fruity Motueka-grown hops dominate your palate and donít ever fade away.

IPA as it should be.

This ale is open source - you may not be able to download the beer itself but feel free to grab the recipe at www.yeastieboys.co.nz.

12oz bottle pours clear toasted orange with almost no head, nearly flat. Nose is pretty non-existent, faint traces of citrus fruit but mostly some must grainy notes. Taste is dull, decent malt balance but no real hops to be found, faint fruity citrus, cereal grains. Finish is very mild bitterness and cereal. Will give this the benefit of doubt and assume it is just extremely old, but of course I have no way of knowing since they canít be bothered to date the bottles. Last time I attempt to buy a hoppy beer from the other side of the world.

Clear yellowish orange, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is mango, tropical fruit, lemon, grass, light grapefruit, light caramel. Medium bodied, moderate bitterness.

Nice hop bitterness and great dark colour. Good clarity. A malt based beer rather than hop. The hop profile is high in bitterness but lower in the dry hopping and flavour. Caramel shows through on the nose as the prominent character and follows through on the palate. A refreshing beer that I would buy again.

Bottle. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate balanced aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. Good brew.

11.2oz bottle. Poured into my DFH IPA glass. Clear golden yellow color. Little off-white head. Good dots and ropes of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp, light carbonation, lightly dry texture. Very easy to drink. Nice grassy grapefruit and orange citrus hop aroma, very awesome. Moderate bitter taste, some big zestiness, light sweet, lightly tangy. Great IPA. Very interesting flavor profile. Another winner from Yeastie Boys. My new favorite NZ brewery?

The head is ok, the body clear and golden. It smells flowery, fruity, hoppy. The taste is flowery, hoppy, creamy, strange-interesting. Ok.

Sweet sweet syrupy malts and hops on the nose and in the flavour and taste. Hops give me the impression of the syrup of cans of fruit salad have been added to the brew. The beverage seems to mellow after that initial shock of sweetness.† Big bodied this ipa is a slow drinking winter or autumn warmer. Nice bitterness toward the end of the beverage helps the beer from that initial sweet shock.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours golden orange/brown with a short, white head. Tropical fruits, pine needles and resin aroma. Nice fruity flavour with a sweet malt backbone. Relative bitterness, good beer.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours a dark gold like urine after a night of tequila drinking with almost no head. Aroma of an old smokey hotel room. Smells like ashes, wood, a bit of citrus, and resin. Taste very dry and bitter. Has a skunky taste to it. Ashtray, rotten citrus rinds, and a bit of dirt. Old leaves and rotten citrus rinds. A compost heap. Makes my taste buds want to run away. A bit sour tart sweet and bitter. Making the buds go crazy. Definitely not feeling this IPA!
