COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed initially for export to USA.
A lmited amount of kegs were released in NZ as Motueka Warrior (as a part of the annual Motueka/Yakima collaboration with Liberty Brewing)

The beer was then brewed for NZ, Aus and Italy under the Digital IPA label. It will be available throughout the southern hemisphere summer of 2011.

NZ Bottle:
This limited-release India Pale Ale (IPA) is an aggressive wee beast that is dedicated to our friend Joseph Wood of Liberty Brewing and to all those hopheads who love drinking IPA day in, day out.
Just as the term digital is all about zeroes and ones, the concept of IPA is all about malts and hops. Enjoy the rich golden malt backbone of Digital while you can... then feel it closing in as the fruity Motueka-grown hops dominate your palate and donít ever fade away.

IPA as it should be.

This ale is open source - you may not be able to download the beer itself but feel free to grab the recipe at www.yeastieboys.co.nz.

OK this is one of those ratings... bought this in Hong Kong but there was as much barnyard (and I mucked for a year in my late teens so I know more than Iíd rather admit) as hops in the nose, lots of rustic barnyard there, this is as much Saison Dupont as IPA (looking over the recent and top ratings I donít think thatís the intention or regular taste). I am therefore drinking a different beer than intended, with pineapple and earth and barnyard in the flavour, but I love it. 4.0.

Beer of life, dude.

Bottle from Whole Foods. Pours clear golden with a small white head that has decent retention. The aroma is a powerhouse of pineapple and mango.. a touch of honey, a bit floral. Really inviting juicy nose. The taste on this is fruity as it gets. Pineapple, peach, mango, apple juice, and a bit of sweet honey. This is very good but a bit over the top on the sweetness.

12 ounce bottle. Minimal foam on this clear golden beer. Served at 42.9F which is too cold. First sniff is of clover honey. I also taste that honey. It is along with floral notes and some citrus, but not a lot. Cereal and grain. Not a lot of excitement.

Bottle: Clear, amber with a small, off-white head. Semi-tropical fruits,...soft/sweet aroma. Taste is mild, sweet fruit....very malty. Light fruit rind bittering. A very nice, tropical, smooth IPA. Extremely Tasty.

Clear golden color, slightly cloudy, quickly disappearing white head. Big fruity, sweet smell (apricots, pineapple, grapefruit) that fades away as the beer warms up leaving space for some malts and caramel. Taste is again quite fruity with honey-like sweetness, citrus and a not too heavy dry final bitterness. Once again the label is misleading describing this beer as "aggressive".

Bottle at home, thanks to Wingman Willis for muelling, 02/05/14. Clear golden amber, moderate off white covering that retains. Nose is floral hop, citric peel, light pine, caramel malt, light honeycomb. Taste comprises floral hops, tangerine, light apricot, straw, pine, caramel malt, juicy hop tang, citric pithdom. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the close. Pretty so so IPA, not really doing it for me but not unpleasant.

Wonderfully fluid for a thickly poured beer. Non overtly tart citrus flavour. Nice on the sugar scale. Light in head but retains thickness. Yeastie Boys done it again. Big tick. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours hazy golden marmalade colour with thin white head that fades to nothing but a lacing. Grassy hop aroma. Fruity hints of peaches and grapefruit. Oily body that coats the palate nicely. Caramel malts come through supporting a well rounded bitterness.

Not the beer I remember and is more soft and restrained than remembered. Not overly malty, with the hops being more predominant. Hate to say it at 7% this is an easy drinker!

The bottle pours a clear golden yellow with a little white head that fades to a light scrim around the edge of the glass that leaves a light lacing down the sides. The aroma, whilst not as strong as some of the IPAís I have sampled, was nicely balanced and featured New Zealand hops with tropical fruits, grass, light citrus and a little bit of caramel. The taste starts with a massive dose of tropical fruit salad that slowly evolves into a medium bitterness that is backed up by a solid malt backbone and the bitterness lingers for a medium amount of time. The mouth feel is smooth and crisp with light carbonation, medium body feel with high drinkability.
