3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 buzz_and_hum (144) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 18, 2013
From a 330ml bottle, finally hitting the stores. This is a delight. A sessionable ale that’s packed full of flavour. Bright fresh hops, bergomot orange on the nose, in the mouth it’s an explosion of fresh passionfruit and bitter orange flavours. Fades to a warm soft tail. Delicious. It is a bit thin, but really, that just makes it more sessionable.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 omega (490) - NEW ZEALAND - FEB 23, 2013
This beer is like gollum; very rarely seen. For a summer ale is quite refreshing with a healthy smattering of hops. Initial thoughts were not much happening on the palate but then your tastebuds are caressed by a slight nuttiness on the back palate.
4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cantabrian (385) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 22, 2013
This beauty is more than worthy of being a hobbit summer ale. I hear it is being served at the pub in Hobbiton, Matamata. Wow, it would be absolutely gorgeous to sit by the shade of an old oak and enjoy it with some good Old Toby, the finest weed in the South Farthing. I’m not sure if it would be called the Green Dragon or the Ivy Bush, but technically they should be in Bywater, not in Hobbiton. Anyway, Golden Perch is not only the best presentation so far of the Yeastie Boys, but a fabulous world pale ale. It gets a ten for a wonderful nose of grapes (yes, Niagara ice wine), grapefruits and passion fruit. So strong and volatile the aroma that it bathes us with this seductive aura as soon as the crown pops up. This is a nice blonde, with a healthy looking head, as healthy as the lively head the blonde sports on the label. Flavours of citrus, floral, the hops are so seductive, the passion fruit, the grapes, the sweetness that sits so gracefully on that sharp hop bitterness. Crisp and light bodied, it does the perfect job. May this beer live long. "Mo tatou, a, mo kauri a muri ake nei - for us and our children after us."

Cask at Pomeroys, Christchurch
Pale blonde with sharp sherbet and passion fruit on the nose. Light in body with medium carbonation, passion fruit, orange pith and a slight bitterness in finish with balancing shortcake malt. One of the best session beers I tried in NZ.
