3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Beery and bitter aroma, hints of tannic tea and orange peel. Glowing burnt orange in colour, oily white head. In the mouth there’s some odd things going on - the tea is a strong flavour, but there’s this soapiness that I can’t quite get my head around. It’s very astringent and tannic on the after taste. I honestly don’t know how I feel about this beer. I’m not a fan of tea, and so for me the tea-like characteristics of this characterful brew are not necessarily a positive. But that said, it does what it says on the bottle - it’s explosive and leafy, full of orange flavoured tea and citrusy hops. Personally, I find it most enjoyable when drunken on a very hot day. An alcoholic ice tea!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to glass. Pours a mostly clear deep copper amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is a powerful tea, spice, with hints of citrus hops. Flavor brings out even more of the tea, with some light piney citrusy hops. Light to medium in body with a lingering spiciness. Unique and tasty.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a bottle. Pours a cloudy light brown/orange, tiny white head, definite tea aroma which is nice with a dry tannin aftertaste. The malt smoothness is a surprise, I really liked this a lot. Which was a bit of a shock.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Aeon. Aroma is tea and malt. Bit of toffee but tea dominates. Taste is similar, tea is at the front but there is more sweet maltiness than in the aroma. Don’t get much hoppiness, but there is a slight bitterness. Interesting.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Sake no Taniguchi. It pours a deep honey amber with a fizzy off-white head. The aroma’s quite nice, a nice balance between fruity hop & tea aromas. The mouthfeel is smooth before finishing on a palate cleansing bitterness. The taste matches the aroma, an interesting blend of fruity hops & tea with the addition of a certain amount of maltiness. Complex & well balanced, I like it - think an IPA iced tea now if only it was summer for me to enjoy it out on my balcony!

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle - pours clear pale golden, light off white head. Nose is loads of citrus lemon, hay, almost a flowery, green tea punch, pungent. Thin palate. Didn’t find this to be much of an ale but the citrus tea notes work enough if it was a hot summer day

Really now. Who would’ve thunk that you could mix Earl Grey with an IPA. Somehow it actually worked out! It’s all IPA on the nose and up front on the palate, but the Earl Grey works it’s magic in the mid-palate and finish as it’s blending with the hop profile. Tasty.

Bottle. Glowing orange-red, clear. Low head. Lovely herbal, floral, fruity nose. You do get Earl Grey tea, plus grasses and herbs and citrus. Very original and lovely nose. Caramel malts, light chocolate, Earl Grey, grassy. Rich malts. Rather light. Good original beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle. A rich orange tinted amber, with a thin off white head. Strong aromas of herbs and spices, with strong notes of citrus, early great tea and straw. Hints of apricots and a floral character. Initial taste is a relatively sweet, floral flavour with a strong notes of pale malts and citrus. Spiced black tea flavour finish with a rising bitterness.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Extremely aromatic beer, sweet lemon curd, flowers, butter and wafts of white tea with one. Small head but nice hazy copper colour. A little on the sweet side, some spicy hops at the end, hits of tea and malty richness. Creamy and savoury palate, suprisingly thick. The sweetness detracts from an other wise creative IPA.

There’s fair dinkum tea flavour coming through here so fantastic that Yeastie Boys have absolutely delivered on this front. Otherwise quite a straightforward and modern IPA albeit modestly hopped. Probably a good thing as an aggressive approach would have killed the tea.
