Cloudy amber pour with no head and practically no carbonation. Aroma is boozy, fruit cake, butterscotch. Taste reminds me of christmas cake batter, boozy soaked fruit and sweet. Nice...

Keg at The Local Taphouse, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Clear copper colour, small head. Aroma of grappa and caramel. Fairly sweet with well sized body and rounded mouthfeel. Caramel and spiced citrus, strage notes of bicarbonate. Mid bitter finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Copper amber small - medium white head. Smells.. boozy stone fruits, honey/sweet malts, hints of spice. Tastes..booze soaked fruits, stone and darker fruits..plums almost Belgian ale style, some spice, a little heat from the alcohol and a bit metallic. Got better as it warmed a little.

The head is very good, body brown, a lot CO2. It smells hoppy, maltaromatic, interesting, a bit fruity. The taste is aromatic, malty, fruity, hoppy, but also strange-metal.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Another shameless rating for the sake of the tick on the style. Nice surprise though, as I’d never have picked this from the shelf if depended on the attractiveness of the label. Great looking beer, murky copper with a creamy head that one could lay a two-dollar dollar coin on and it would stay. Lovely sweet aromas of flan, vanilla and passion fruit dessert topping. Malty flavours, with biscuits, allspice, and a herbal bitterness with bourbon (sorry, not single malt). The alcohol is not inconspicuous and the finish is rather smooth. There’s a nice, round, resinous feel to the body. I’d love to try a "real" Scottish ale (from Scotland, I mean). I just hope they are as good as this one.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle. Pours a hazy ruby amber, with a small off-white head, which lasts reasonably well and leaves decent lacing. Floral hops sit over a base of rye toast, hazelnut and mild biscuit malt notes in the aroma. Spicy and floral hops up front lead into rich hazelnut and toffee malt in the mid-palate. Toasted rye and spicy hops make up the finish, which leaves a toasty aftertaste. This is a pleasant and satisfying malty ale.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep clear amber with a fine white head.
Candy like malt, honey, caramel and huge floral and tropical hops.
Rich toasty malts, biscuit, honey and salted caramel. A great fresh hop bitterness, light resins and some tropical fruits.
The finish is a little creamy and good dose of kiwi hops cut through the rich maltiness.

A great beer to contrast with the hoppy brews that are more popular at the moment. The big tastes are balanced nicely and invite one to have another.

the pour is cool, bright orange, very clear, big head. smells of pine, dried fruit. tastes of pineapple, marmalade, little bit grassy. finishes kinda cleansing but not with much flavour. bit of a weak link in the boys’ (otherwise) stella line-up
