3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pdubyah (121) - Auckland, - OCT 29, 2012It’s fairly competent as a Belgium beer, it’s sweet and tart and not unpleasant.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 DylansDad (205) - NEW ZEALAND - MAY 29, 2013
As per reviews below, cloves, spices, honey, funk etc. Tastes like I should be cooking with it, not drinking. Actually, it might be good to have a couple of sips of this after a sticky dessert. Unfortunately, I hardly ever eat dessert.
2.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 beerledgend (1197) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 27, 2012
Nice red colour with thick white head. Wood varnish aroma, but as warms up gives nice hop aroma. After initial weird flavour and aroma, gets much better. Hey Stu please add warning "Best at above room temp!!!"
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ciaranc (388) - Dublin, IRELAND - OCT 12, 2012
Pour is clear copper/amber with a frothy, white, mostly diminishing head with excellent lacing. Nose is sweet, resinous pine, estery belgian yeast, cherry, icing sugar, raspberry and alcohol. Its a heavy malt sweetness in the flavour with more glace cherry and some more hints of berry. Mouthfeel is smooth, fairly full bodied, lively carbonation. I like american ambers and I love belgian ales, but I cant help feeling this falls between the two. Top marks to Yeastie Boys for pushing the envelope yet again though.

this is not just a red beer - its a great red beer. Funky, bursting with character and mouth feel with clean end notes.
4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 pmuzz (288) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 24, 2012
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2012 This was awesome! I loved it, had so many competing flavours that balanced each other out. Loved that funk in it. Just had so much life and body, with a great mouthfeel. I think this is well underrated as a beer.
4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 slooter (1) - AUSTRALIA - APR 30, 2012 does not count
Terrific beer, underrated by hop heads of course but has impeccable balance and a glorious texture. Caramel, berries, bready and citrus at the end. Loads of malt inspired stuff with the hops peaking through at the end. Great acid, top notch structure. An inspired beer. Key words: balance and texture.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Wombata (339) - Kobe, JAPAN - APR 12, 2012
Bottle.
Aroma: Sour, yeast, pear, honey and sweet malt, red currant.
Palate: Very nice, rich mouth feel
Flavor: Sweet honey, malt, roasted grain with a caramel note, dried orange. These flavors appear from the initial attack through the mid-palate and through a long finish.
Comments: Sweet without being excessively so. Outstanding. This is really outside the box. Likely to appeal to the more adventurous who like lambics or funky white wines.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 ComradeK (749) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - MAR 27, 2012
330ml bottle. Pours a hazy red amber, with a huge white head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. Estery yeast notes dominate on the nose, with cinnamon and fruity aromas especially noticeable. Mild spice hops up front give way to fruity, spicy and quite doughy yeast, which fades out into the finish. It’s just passable, but very one-dimensional. As with so many Belgian style beers, indeed all but the very best-executed examples, it is far too yeast dominated, which really isn’t my thing at all. The Tintin reference, however, does give it some extra points!
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Zeke_NZL (32) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 19, 2012
This beer was the hardest beer I have had to rate. It was very difficult to pinpoint what any of flavours were. However is was distinctly Belgian with hop bitterness and flavours coming through.
