3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cellared bottle tested prior to Pomeroys degustationj dinner. Muted aroma of not much nwith great head retention. Up front its a bit mandarin and orange pith, malt sweetness with rich hints of the light pepper spice from the yeast. Any up front bitterness has receeded but there is a big flourishing dry lingering hop bitterness. Has held up well.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled and draft - I think it was the same beer although the draft beer was labelled Belgian Amber and listed at 5.5% ABV. An amber beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, hops, and citrus fruits. the flavor is sweet with notes of malt, yeast, straw, and caramel, leading to a dry, spicy, and bitter finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours amber/brown, off white head. Aroma has plenty of clovy Belgian yeast, not super hoppy.
The flavour follows suit with colvy Belgian funk, with more bite than usual on the finish. It’s a good beer, I’m just not a fan of this particular yeast I think.

Bright red in colour with tall white head. Subtle clovey aroma. As warms up get more manuka honey aroma. Short hop palate very dry finish.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep amber/ruby colour, a lot darker than I expected, but geez... magenta is right. Incredibly red for something generated only by malt (I presume). Smells strongly of Ardennes yeast to me, hop aroma pushed to the back and seeming quite herbal and Styriany, not really classic NZ at all. (Very surprised to see Nelson Sauvin in the description.) Like Nerd B, the aroma has elements not entirely to my taste but in the mouth it really works. Slightly toasty malt with a decent bit of crystal, with hop character and quite a solid bitterness which builds really slowly but stays around on your palate for a long time. One of those beers that doesn’t wow you at the time but the more time passes the more you end up thinking about it and wanting more. Very tasty stuff, but I’m not necessarily convinced about the yeast character.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the Beerstore (NZ). Pours an amber colour with little to no head. Coriander on the nose but this soon subsides when poured. I was expecting more of Wit taste but got more of a hoppy kick than I was expecting. Very drinkable and yet another quality beer from Sam and Stu. Well done.
