COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A celebratory beer by Yeastie Boys. They said it couldn’t be done, that it would be undrinkable and, to be fair, many of them still do... But we like to do our own thing. This one-off batch of imperial-strength Rex Attitude is a self-indulgent celebration of being awarded the Morton Coutts Trophy for Innovation at BrewNZ 2011. Dedicated to all the peat freaks who have let us know how much they enjoy Rex: your love helps us through the hate - thank you.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a good glossy white head. Aroma is ridiculous, smells like barbecued smoke bacon crossed with islay malt whisky. Taste is smokey smoke and smoked fruit, slightly sweet but mostly spicy bitter. Mild carbonation with a medium body with oil. Very weird, but I love peaty whiskys so I quite liked it.

330ml bottle at Beer Station, Xiamen. Pours hazy golden orange with a thin white head. Aroma is medicinal smokey. Sweet finish. Not sure this is much more than alcoholic TCP but enjoyable.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Aromas of smoke, peat, oranges. Taste is woody, smoke, light sour. Some citrus fruit. Oily to thin texture. Doesn?t drink to the strength. Very smoky building flavour.

Still a smoky beer, but I enjoyed the rex attitude more , maybe because it suprised me, maybe because this one has more alcohol which camouflages the taste a bit

Bottle. thanks Alex of Ale House. Golden colour; orange; coriander, Cointreau orange spirits, manderines and a metallic somewhat off-putting texture. Not great but I think it got hot in transport.

Bottle. Thanks to me bro for not scooping this himself! It pours clear deep orange with a small off-white head. The nose is big, rich, smoke, earth, massive dirty smoked peat, smoked cheese and plenty of medicinal action. The taste is rich, bitter-sweet, big smoke, peat, earth, oily, straw, honeyed grain, medicinal dirt, whisky and warming alcohol with a det, warming finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Yup. This does it for me. Big smoked peat equals fun times.

Pours a golden haze. Massive nose of smoked meats turning to medicinal. Drinks with some sweetness and a lot of smokiness. Very little of anything else. Insanely peaty, maybe more than needed. It's a lot to take in, but an experience in drinking

Pours a fairly pale golden appearance with note head or carbonation. Punch in the face peat, medicinal, burnt rubber, yet so so good. Like sitting at an open fire, eyes water from the smoke. Slight hints of fruit under the blanket of peat, apricot and grapefruit. Drinks like a nice full bodied ale, slightly sweet and malty. The peat does not over power the palette, a nice juicy beer with good stone fruits and jammy sweet malts. A good hop spice with a nice cognac like alcohol warmth. The finish is nicely smokey, like a smooth cigar. A doughy sweetness mellows the alcohol and peat, with a hint of grassy spice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
