3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured a lightish golden colour with a fairly quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is intense to say the least, very smoky, peaty, whisky, some cured meats? A bit of ash in there as well. Peat flavours dominate, but there is some residual sweetness. Nice bubbly palate and light body keeps the intense flavour from becoming bogged down. Really different, strange at first, liked it in the end!

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
330ml bottle into pint glass. Smells like alcohol, BBQ sauce and medicine. Looks like industrial waste water, translucent orange/brown with wisp of white film on top. Taste is (very) dark fruit and dry wood. Peat is everywhere. The finish is long, the smokiness continues and is joined by raisins, nail polish, wood shavings and alcohol. The opposite of easy-drinking. Interesting but not enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Light brown with a small head.Very unusual flavour than can only be described as earthy which came as a bit of a shock. Took some time to dawn on me that I really liked it. Out of the ordinary and worth persevering with.

2.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Nose is intense smoke and peat with a bit of bacon crisps thrown in. The smelliest beer I’ve ever encountered.
Pours a hazy golden orange, with a minimal white head. Carbonation is low and steady.
Taste is unique, heavy on the peat with a nice warmth from the high abv. Three are underlying floral notes which break through quite nicely.
Starts as a shock to the senses but quickly grows on you, just bear with it.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours clearish goldenish. Nose is huge smoke and peat, I dont like the aroma. Taste is still strong smoke, also sweet maltiness, orange.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
From a 330ml bottle on 5/12/2015. Pours a murky dark golden with not much of a head. The nose is full on peat, with a smoky, bacony vibe. There’s masses of peat and smoke in the flavour, but there’s also a lovely fruity sweetness in there which complements the smoky intensity, with a mild but sticky bitterness. The texture is slick and the carbonation is very soft. This is a lovely, crazy, peaty beer. Reminds me of Hopdog’s sublime 2013 Super Beast, which is very high praise.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
8th September 2015
After the horrors of Rex Attitude I approached this one with much caution. Hazy amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly crisp. Mildly sweet toffee malts, trace if cream. The peat is pretty light after Rex Attitude. Thank God! But it’s still a peat laden beer. Dry finish. Passable. Hides the abv well.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a good glossy white head. Aroma is ridiculous, smells like barbecued smoke bacon crossed with islay malt whisky. Taste is smokey smoke and smoked fruit, slightly sweet but mostly spicy bitter. Mild carbonation with a medium body with oil. Very weird, but I love peaty whiskys so I quite liked it.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Aromas of smoke, peat, oranges. Taste is woody, smoke, light sour. Some citrus fruit. Oily to thin texture. Doesn?t drink to the strength. Very smoky building flavour.
