COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A celebratory beer by Yeastie Boys. They said it couldn’t be done, that it would be undrinkable and, to be fair, many of them still do... But we like to do our own thing. This one-off batch of imperial-strength Rex Attitude is a self-indulgent celebration of being awarded the Morton Coutts Trophy for Innovation at BrewNZ 2011. Dedicated to all the peat freaks who have let us know how much they enjoy Rex: your love helps us through the hate - thank you.

pretty phenomenal, was a bit worried about this going in as i don’t like whiskey but it turned out to be a fantastic smoked beer, predominantly smoked cheese. very tasty and surprisingly easy to drink.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2014 Light amber, white head. Crazy smell of smoke and peat, resembling smoked meat and cheese (ricotta affumicata!). Taste starts surprisingly sweet and quickly develops into a smoke and peat fest. Very light final bitterness. Aftertaste is very similar to a whisky one but without only a gentle warming from the alcohol. Unique beer.

Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has loads of peated ashtray. Slightly hazy, copper coloured beer with a thin head. The taste is a bit sweet, light hoppy, massive ashtray. Cool experiment, but will not be my favourite Yeastie Boys beer.

Buonissima produzione neozelandese, dove i sentori di wisky sono ben presenti e la nota torbata la fa da padrone. Buon equilibrio.

HopRedHead (344) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - APR 21, 2013
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a deep golden orange with a finger of fading head. Huge smoked peat nose with earthy and apricot flavours. Bit of caramel too. Smells like a glass of talisker. Flavour is vastly different to the nose: massive apricot and caramel sweetness. Nose makes you anticipate a smoky flavour but its actually very sweet. Nice light smoky finish. Shared between three, probably wouldn’t have another glass; very rich, saturated sweet smoke. Points for uniqueness.

Bottle. Pours clear orange with a light lacing dissipating beige small head. Aroma is quite smoked with peat, burnt wood, caramel, iodine, burnt rubber, hay and leather. Taste is near heavy sweet and medium bitter. Body is near full, texture is oily/light syrupy and carbonation is soft. Finishes sweet and smoked. This is a rather different beast than Rex Attitude, the flavors is integrated more by the sweet malt base, but this is a slow sipper. XeRRex packs a lot more punch, but I prefer the in your face Rex Attitude.

Bottle. from Den Tatoverede Enke kbh. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy nice aroma. Moderate bitter nice smoked flavor. Long moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate. Above my average of a smoked (when no islay-peat present)

snzcujo (282) - RUSSIA - JAN 23, 2013
Tasted from the bottle, on 23/01/2013. Pours of slightly muddy amber, with a good off-white foam. Aroma is so intense, peat, tons of peat and a bit smoky/ashy. Taste is intensely peaty/smoky/sweet, and a bit grassy/floral in the end. Worth to try, hard to drink frequently though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
