Say yes to an SJS. Dark, smooth, with an unmistakable roasted flavour.

Had this on top at the brewpub in beautiful St. John's. nice head which persisted. Definitely some chocolate in the aroma and the palate. Nice, long, pleasant finish. Would love to have again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Absolutely no head. Very black in color, no texture. Watery is a good word. Bland taste. I was very disappointed with this beer.

750ml bottle. Black with a nice ruby tinge, bit of biege head that fades to nothing. A nice light somewhat porter-like stout, nice smoke, roasted malt, bit of chocolate shavings, bit of coffee. Mild carbonation, pleasant body, slightly sweet with a hint of bitterness, more smoke and roasted malts, quite tasty.

1L Swingtop: Dark brown, almost black in colour. Poured flat with almost no head. The nice aroma of roasted malt was quickly forgotten once the watery feeling hits your mouth, and leaves you with a metallic aftertaste. Not pleasant experience.

1ltr swingtop- Deep brown, pours a thin mocha head that crawls back to form a ring around the glass. Nose is simply but inviting. Coffee and dark chocolate, some vanilla, roasted malts, a bit nutty. A bit on the sweet side in term of flavour. Coffee and dark chocolate again, a bit of fruitiness, toasty and roasty flavours all meld to meet up with a fresh hop profile. Nice bitter and creamy finish. Probably the best beer from this province that I have sampled. Thanks Vanessa!

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2009 On tap at yellowbelly restaurant. Dark black/brown with long lived, creamy head. very much a guinness clone, with some brighter sweet notes, and more nuts in the aroma. Nothing bad about this brew, but nothing spectacular. I wish they wouldn’t serve this in a lager glass!
