Brewed in the style of a west coast Imperial IPA, this daring brew is built for the bitter-loving hop fan. Brewed with an abundant blend of Northwest hops, this big ale begins with a crisp hop burst, both floral and bitter, yet settles into a surprisingly smooth ale.

Sticky piney fruity in the nose and palate. Pours pale orange with clinging white head. Nice bitter finish, could be a little better balanced, but very nice and crisp hop profile. Nice beer.

Bottle at Dream lake in Alabama The ale poured an amber color with a small head . There was citrus and pine resin on the nose. The ale had a medium body with soft carbonation. The higher alcohol may have muted some of the hop bitterness. The bitterness does become more pronounced at the end. This was the first beer enjoyed after fishing for large mouth bass all day.

Draft at the Huntsville Brewery. Pours clear copper with a fizzy white head. Tastes like musky cereal malt, butterscotch, and bitter hops. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells musky, creamy, buttery, light pine and citrus.

DiarmaidBHK (3821) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 26, 2014
Draft at taproom. Pours light orange with a half inch of khaki foam. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Big pine on the nose. Big pine on the tongue. Finishes with a lot of bitterness. It’s basically like French kissing a pine tree. Not a lot of balance here. This is probably my record for most sentence fragments in a review. I find the deScription of being a surprisingly smooth ale really deceptive since my sister made a straight-up bitter beer face while sampling this.

Bottle. Poured amber with a thin off-white head. Light floral aroma. The flavor found a floral and caramel blend. Medium body and smooth. Mild bitterness upfront and a light sweet finish.

Draft at Leroy’s.  Pours light orange with zero head.  Aroma of floral hops.  Extremely thin.  Looks like tea. Taste of light, muted hops.  Tried but did not succeed.

Draft sampled at Magic City Brewfest. Pumped through the Randall! Poured deep amber with a large off-white head. Aroma was hoppalicious: piney, citrusy, floral. Lots of caramel. Flavor was flavorfully hoppy but only mildly bitter. Big malt backbone. Medium, slightly oily mouthfeel. A surprisingly drinkable IIPA.

This one didn’t wimp out over time like some IPA which don’t have the bitter side. The Huntsville folks are all doing the IPA correct. Not bitter all hops. Very enjoyable. Tried through a hop rocket at the Nook. Sweet with a hop balance. I’ll get it again!
