Can bought in a tourist shop in Nasu, Tochigi, Japan. I consumed a few of these with my wifes delightful friends at a resort in the mountains in Nasu. An amber coloured pour with a small white head on top. Hoppy, citrus fruit aroma. Tastes hoppy, citrus/tropical fruit, malty and bitter. Nice IPA.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2013 Pours bright gold with little head. Aroma is slightly funky malt and floral. Taste is a touch of candy/caramel leading into long hoppy resinousness... I like this beer and think it should rate higher. A great example of classic IPA.

11.8oz can, shared by caterwaul. Sticker on can reads 2/21/12. Amber color. Totally hazy, with lots of fine particles in the body. Thin off-white bubbly head. Good retention, good lace. Medium-plus body. Very smooth, light carbonation, kind of dry in the finish, but creamy overall. Mostly sweet taste, light bitter... But, for how old this is... It’s really drinking fine, especially compared to how an American IPA of the same age would taste. Caramel malt, but also some nice yeasty bready thickness to it, with a good lightly piney, light herbal, floral, sort of perfumey hop character that still prevails. Unusual IPA, but still very satisfying. Lightest of chalkiness, not bothersome though, adds some good texture and body. Light spiciness. Cool IPA. Only other Japanese IPA I’ve had is Hitachino. I think I prefer this one, although they are totally different. Hitachino was much more malty, being cedar-aged. This one is more floral and even fresher and brighter, despite it having sat for a year

My Bottom Line:
This India Pale Ale’s leafy hops carry citrus undertones and plenty of bitterness which are accompanied by slick honeyed malts.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the clear bronzed golden.
-The bitterness is surprisingly of higher impact than the hop aroma.
-The mouthfeel is lean (not exactly dry, but not sweet either) and drinkability very high.
-Carbonation is prickly, but not harshly so.
-The citrusy undertones are orange-like at times.

Shared with DrSilverworm. Cloudy burnt orange body with a creamy head. Creamy and perfumey. Floral. Sweet... almost tea-like. Smooth. A little sticky. Medium body. I don’t mind this.

Can from mane liquor. Pours a deep bright orange with a small white head. Aromas of grapefruit, some tropical fruits and pine. Taste is really quite sweet, sticky tropical fruits with some grapefruit and malt backbone. I don't mind sweet ipa's, quite nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Orange pour from can at Yusho in Logan square. White thin head. Heavier than a lager but similar. Slightly bitter, floral and citrus notes. Not bad. Unique

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2014 Can from Yamaya. Clear golden colour, small white head. Aroma has lots of hops, with fruit and pine. Same with the flavour, some reisin and a bitter finish. Fantastic for the price!

Can at WilliamK, Helsinki. Pours clear golden with a frothy white head. Aroma is prominently fruity with an exotic touch, also some pine. Taste is dry and medium bitter, very fresh and crisp. Hoppiness carries the taste to its conclusion fairly quickly and the exotic notes the aroma suggested do not feature much; the taste displays grass and pine. The palate is medium bodied, moderately carbonated. Not the richest IPA around but definitely very decent. Interesting to try a Japanese IPA.
