COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tokyo Black is the second brand at YoHo. A robust porter, well balanced between the malt and the hops. The complex chocolate and roast flavours of dark specialty malts are combined with a floral and slightly spiciness from Perle hops.

4/23/2011. From can. Pours mahogany with a tan head. Roasted malt aromas with dried fruit, chocolate and coffee. Good bitterness and body. Probably my favorite from this brewer.

Can from Hasegawa Liquors, Tokyo Station. Deep black colour, off white head. High initial carbonation. Stout end of porter, deepnrasty flavours, burnt, some cocoa. Hint of boozy molasses and brown sugar. A tasty beer.

Can. Nearly black body, small beige head. Aroma has milky roast with some ash and leather seats. Smooth roasty taste with a semi-milky finish. Reminds me of Fullerís London Porter but itís a bit drier and less chocolatey. Nice, but for obvious reasons itís too expensive here to have it regularly.

Black, small brown head, some pretty nice lacing. Nose is heavy on the coffee, chocolate, soy sauce, burned malt, salty notes. Taste is similar to the nose, but while the nose was more aggressive on the salty soy sauce front, the taste is smoother, the chocolate is more pronounced, the saltiness is almost gone. Finish has cocoa and more soy sauce, again, not so salty soy sauce, hops in the background. Thin to medium body, fairly flat carbonation, oily texture. Very nice.

350cl can. Aroma of hoppy caramel, dark roasted malt and for some reason black soy sauce. Pitch black with thick, dark brown head. Extremely good balance between bitterness, hopines, caramel and wet cardboard. For some reason reminds me of either shrimp or shellfish. You can taste iron and cardboard. Medium body, creamy at first, but turns in to a watery drink rather quickly. Carbonation is average, and stays for about 10 minutes. Finish is burnt, bitter, sharp and short. When I poured it, and had a first sip - I was blown away by the aroma and complexity of the taste, but longer it stayed in my glass, the more oily and pale it become. You should not mingle with this beer - drink it in 10 min time. P.S. My house smells heavily of porter.

330ml can. Black color. Flat as characters in Japanese cartoons. Burnt pancakes, flour, sweet, mild chocolate in aroma. Sweet, coffee, roasted malts, milky taste. Watery texture. Nice roast in aftertaste.

Can @ home, courtesy of arminjewell. Thanks! Pours a hazy brownish black appearance with a tan head. Chocolate rice cake, grape fruity, funky aroma. Light bodied, big rice, chocolate, roasty flavor. Pass.

Pour out of 12 oz can, thanks Markus! Dark black pour with a thin white head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, slight rye notes as well. Taste is a mix of slight biscuit, bread, hints of oak, slight bread and yeast, caramel, chocolate. Odd.
